I have USAA and recently added Car Replacement Assistance (pays an additional 20% of Actual Cash Value in the event of a total loss). Glad I did and we’ll see how it plays out. Based on damage and collision I hope they total it.

That being said in it for about $72,500 all told (purchase price, taxes and add ons). Time to start peeling off accessories before it is assessed…

Man, they’ll probably fix that.

I used to live in Denver and the drivers there were terrible! Sorry to see it. More distracted drivers and morons than I’ve seen anywhere in the states. Car insurance rates there were pretty outrageous as well.

Let us know how USAA works out for you. I'd be interested. Recently was thinking of going away from them because they dont give any consideration for extras in a vehicle (like lifts, or lights, or canopy, or any other aftermarket accessory). Other insurance companies will consider doing additional coverage, or even 'agreed upon value'. Frustrating that USAA would only give me 7K for my TJ if it ever got totaled considering you can't even touch one for under 15K.

So just curious to see how they handle your situation.

So sorry this happened. I hope your state has demenished value if the fix it. My insurance was going to total my wife's subaru (bent frame). I argued with them and finally agreed to a total and mentioned I will file a DV claim. 2 hours later they changed their mind and went full total.
Good luck!!

If they do fix it ask for some depreciation money, they will give it and if they fix it you still do not have the vehicle that you had before. You have just eaten more depreciation. I had an f150 and this young girl ran into the back of it at 70 mph, she was texting. The repairs were 17000 and her insurance asked me how satisfied that I was. I said it was repaired ok but I am now driving a wrecked vehicle due to someone else negligence. I got an additional 3500 (not much) but it is something.

I have had 2 vehicles totaled by USAA in accidents that weren’t my fault. They use market replacement for the value they will give you. In the case of my WJ the local market was flooded and I got the high end of that at 6500. Not bad for a 15 year old Jeep with 189k on it.

On my 95 F350 with a powerstroke with rolled boat paint and 280k they gave me 8,000. I paid 5,000 two years and 40k miles prior. Well they could only find one on dealer websites within the country at that point.

Since that point I have added the 20% replacement addition as it was really only a few dollars a month. But my experience has been USAA is more than fair on payout valuations.

Yeah see I asked them about all that stuff and they were given me the green weenie. My TJ they said it would be low vale. And for my OBS they also said BB value which is about 8K. I even told them there was 50K into the truck with new engine, trans, axles, basically everything except the body. They did't care. Progressive on the other hand was willing to insure me for all of that. I still have USAA but just recently they left me stranded on the side of the interstate last month when my TJ broke down and said they didn't have any tow services available and good luck - or they could send someone 4 hours away and they were gonna charge me $2,000. I found my own tow 10 miles away... for 250 bucks. Not saying they're bad. But so far they haven't provided me with stellar customer service....

I'll be really interested to see how they treat the OP. I hope they do good. Accidents suck for everyone involved. Especially if you have a lot of money, time, and memories invested.

Everyone walked away pretty much unscathed. If totaled… another diesel gladiator or something else?

Just to add on to the USAA experience, the positive…

I totaled my vehicle in college (at fault, no others involved) and they paid me the value plus 20% very promptly with no hassle. It was a very seamless experience.

The negative experience (different vehicle):

I got a tow from a company that they 3rd party and who damaged my vehicle when unloading it from the flatbed. The driver dropped my Charger on its tailpipes while lowering it to the ground. I told USAA about it and they said I could need to file a claim and pay deductible ($1000 for my plan). That really pissed me off.

Anyways, I haven’t put too much time into finding a new insurer but I doubt I can get a much better quote at my age. $160 per month and 27 years old.

Wow, sorry to see this. My wife had her favorite built XJ totaled by a woman blowing through a stop too. It sucks!!!

Here's a video from Hoovies Garage about his Gladiator getting totaled by the insurance company over a busted front axle.

The frame is most definitely bent. That spring perch is pooched as well as the sway bar mounts. I’d be willing to bet the drivers wheel is bent or cracked.

with it other driver’s fault, I’d look at refusing repair… how many miles on it?
