Launch Edition still available?

I have a 2019 JLU Moab and made the mistake of going to drive a Gladiator today. Rode very nice and I like the added utility. The dealer was able to locate a Launch Edition near me and I'm kind of excited to find out the Launch edition seems to have exactly what I would've ordered anyhow. Plus it has the same rims I have now that I really like. I'm kind of torn though as I was planning on waiting for the diesel ... hmmm.

I would imagine the deal would be better if I found the dealer who has it on the lot? When they have to trade for one it seems like it's not as good of a deal ...

Any opinions?

I would use the Jeep builder tool and check available inventory. It will let you search up to 150 miles, and shows the configuration and what dealer has it. It also links to the dealer sites, so you can search those separately. That's how I found my Overland, and went to the dealer that had it on the lot.

I was also waiting for the diesel, but now it's been put off. With the current market, I doubt they will be in any rush to make it.

Local dealer exchanges are *almost* like buying off the same lot. They have some kind of agreement to share inventory. You might try asking on: https://reddit.com/r/askcarsales

I had the same debate. I just considered the extra cost for diesel and that purchasing when the diesel came out meant no mark down from MSRP like you are seeing now on the LE unless I waited that much longer for it to come down. So for me and my situation it made sense money wise to buy the LE now. I was also unsure of the diesel and payload. I will tow, and there is not much pay load now (much better than my previous mid size truck and current competitors for sure), and if the diesel took away from that payload, I am better off with the LE gas engine, even without that nice diesel torque.
With respect to the transfer deal, if you have a good dealer, it might be worth the extra money buying from them, to keep the relationship, a good dealer is hard to come by, wish I had one.

My local dealer ... I purchased one car from them a long time ago and it was a bad experience and their service is NOT good in my opinion, so I don't have a lot of love for them anyhow.

The dealer that has the launch edition I'm eyeing is about 2 1/2 hours away. I sent them an email EARLY yesterday inquiring about the vehicle and they replied that they would be back to me shortly, but I have yet to hear anything. I figured with the end of the month upon us, etc they would get back to me more quickly. Online they are offering $4000 off MSRP so not sure what they'll come back with. I like the idea of the launch edition because I do not care for the Rubicon's (red) dash and I really like the black rims on the LE. Building a non-LE Rubicon equipped like the LE online right now is about +$1700 MSRP.

I was trying hard to wait for the diesel in the JL, but ended up snagging one when I couldn't wait any longer. I have enjoyed my JL but long for the added utility of the Gladiator. I do not rock crawl. Gravel roads and fields are likely the "toughest" duty this thing will find. Our Jeep now is our third car/fun car/extra 4wd for inclement weather car. It's also my "drive to the ranch and work" car. It's a 4 hour one-way trip to our ranch land, so I like the idea of the added efficiency of the diesel even though I know it will never pay for itself. I have owned a diesel before and enjoyed it. The reliability of the EcoDiesel makes me a little nervous, but I also don't tend to keep cars for a super long time. Likely will have warranty on the powertrain all during ownership.

I have a dealer fairly close to me who offers 5% below invoice on orders so I could get a decent deal on the diesel ... whenever (if) it becomes available. If the dealer that has the LE offers me a superb deal, I may jump on it but otherwise I'm leaning toward waiting on the diesel as tough as that may be to do.

Any other input is very welcome, including whether I should be considering the diesel given my situation.
