Interesting. Not sure what the point of ESS would even be if it won't work with the AC/Heat on.

• Battery charge is low
• The vehicle is on a steep grade
• Cabin heating or cooling is in process and an acceptable
cabin temperature has not been achieved
• HVAC is set to full defrost mode at a high blower speed
• HVAC set to MAX A/C
• Engine has not reached normal operating temperature
• Engine temperature too high
• The transmission is not in a forward gear
• Hood is open
• 4WD system is put into 4L or Neutral
• Brake pedal is not pressed with sufficient pressure
Other Factors Which Can Inhibit Autostop Include:
• Accelerator pedal input

Bright white LE rolled off the truck this morning and walked out with the keys this evening. Several significant differences I noticed so far from trading in my manual JK.
1. Much smoother ride.
2. Much quieter ride.
3. It appears to wander more.
4. It was reporting 28-35 mpg on the 55 mph road home and about 24 mpg doing 70 on the short freeway trip so we will see how that holds up. (I am and always have been a feather foot and borderline hypermiler and would routinely get 22mpg highway and 25-28 mpg on the side streets around where I live all confirmed by the pump)
5. The microphone for calls is absolute trash compared to the JK. People said every time I talked it sounded like it was intentionally adding wind noise.
6. Though only a 1 inch tire difference, this truck looks like it sits a lot higher than the JK did.
7. The hood doesnt rattle at highway speeds like the JK does.
8. Dont know if the dealer threw it in for free (need to look at window sticker) but all tires have locking lugs to prevent theft.
So far I am impressed how different the vehicle is from JKs and even from the limited JL experience I have.
Nice! Congrats.

First fill up today. 284 miles and 13.3 gal at the pump. Was a mix of freeway driving at 70 mph, side roads at 55-65, a few miles off road with sub 20 mph, and city driving 25-35 with some traffic in Reno. A good chunk of the 55-65 was also done with 400-750lbs of lumber in the bed. So I am quite impressed. Though, jeeps claim that it can sense load is crap. With 750 lbs of lumber is was constantly hunting between 7th and 8th and I put it in M8 and it had no issues maintaining speed.
The microphone issue appears to ONLY be with bluetooth, every call I made using android auto(USB cable) the people on the other end had no issues hearing me.
So far no issues with me for the forward fenders being eaten up but I also have the key fob issue where it isnt fully sealed.
The cruise control is extremely aggressive. I'd you change speeds by more than 5 mph using the cruise controls it almost floors the engine or heavily engaged the brakes. I am not a big fan of this cruise control compared to my JKs.
Congrats on your new ride!

If it was shifting down to 7th gear let it do it. By putting it in 8th manual your preventing it from downshifting when it needs to, and you can easily lug the engine which is not good on a new truck. As an example I had my cruise set to 65 in manual 8th and she slowed to 52 mph on a hill and still stayed in 8th. I think this might be a bug with the processor.

Keep in mind 7th & 8th are like over-drives. These things have a small motor with almost no torque so they won’t eat any hills. When the diesel comes out with all its torque you’ll be able to leave it in M 8th no problem.

Pretty sure the manual says that it will not let you lug or overspeed the engine when using manumatic mode and that it will shift for you. So assuming the engineers programmed it right, one would hope you couldn't hurt the engine with a poor gear selection.

The "Manual" transmission logic is designed for you to watch the tach and make correct shifts - If your transmission is auto and it downshifts to 7th or 6th, that is exactly where you need to be to prevent lugging. As I mentioned, I was in M8 and I set my cruise for 65 and my speed got all the way down to 52mph it did not downshift because I asked it not to shift, when I selected manual.

To prevent constant shifting in hilly terrain, leave the transmission in manual 7th or 6th, not 8th.

Keep in mind, our V6 has no real torque to speak of, (260 lb) its not going to climb a steep incline in 8th unless your doing 75-80. For the most part, if you're in any hilly terrain, you should avoid 8th, its an overdrive gear and intended for level highway use for fuel economy.

If you pick up diesel when it comes out, you'll be able to leave it in 8th since it has nearly twice the torque (422 lbs) of the gas engine.

Regards - Mike

Nope just wondering what his next move was going to be I just traded a 2019 F250 with 5700 hundred miles on it for my Jeep gladiator and I have no complaints and I am a very picky person putting a rough country leveling kit on and 35’s this week

My next step is adding putting my old JK stuff on the truck. Winch, cb, light bar? (Maybe), both air compressors, and maybe my bigger 1500 watt pure sine wave inverter. One of the things that annoys me severely is that there is no 12vdc Jack in the back that isnt key bound to the battery. The JK had one in the center console and one in the back that I could plug my arb fridge into. Now if I want to let my fridge run while the car is off I will have to do my own wiring unless I can figure out a way to unbind the key aspect of the 12vdc plug under the radio.

Nice JT!
Curious, are you involved with the Reno Overlanding Group?
For the 12V outlet you could use the AUX switch setup for a Batt (always on) interior outlet. The connection wires are routed next to the battery and behind the glove box as well. Just program the switch through the radio.

I am in Stagecoach, NV. I have the same JKUR "Hard Rock" White that you have/had.

I have opposite experience I had my windows down at about 40mph. On call with work bud and his feedback was I'd be able to take my conference calls from the vehicle and all would think I was at my desk. I've had my LE for two weeks now and not one complaint about the vehicle handsfree which I use consitantly. Handsfree is big for me so to this point the feature has been rock solid.

I sold it to pay for the JT. When I bought the JK I was split between what I wanted but the things I was looking for was 4x4, convertible, manual, diesel, some sort of bed, and ability to tow at least 2k. So I had to settle. Now I gave up the manual for the bed but that's fine.

I am not part of the Reno Group. I am active duty and I don't stick around in the same place long enough to meet people during what little down time I have. I usually run light stuff solo or w/ my fiancee. Once I get out, I will probably look around for groups where I end up getting a job, though my degree severely limits the places I could be fully employed.

Yea, I could do that, but if I am going that far, I might as well just wire it straight to the battery and save the aux switch for something else? I haven't looked yet, but I am guessing running wires through the firewall is similar to the JK.

I also learned you can permanently disable the auto start stop by just turning the climate control on. Putting the fan speed on 1 and having the temp slightly different than what outdoor temp reads disabled the ECC and states it is unavailable due to cabin heating or cooling.
Yeah, AC/heater only works when motor is running! (And vice versa!)
You can also permanently disconnect the SS sensor under the hood, looks like golf tee, front edge of engine bay, near drivers headlight. Google JL, JT, Start/Stop hack! ;{

I understand the active duty issue. Had my feet in the sand box for a while. It's all good! May run into yah some day. I'm trading up the JK for a Gobi JT in a month. Safe travels.

Yea that pretty much covers the basic annoyances ! I've been tolerating my very intermittent ESS on the 2016 WK2 with its piece of crap "mini-battery" ! IF, big if, I wind up keeping the WK2 the 1st thing to GO will be that mini-monstrosity and replace the system with a True Dual Battery System (Genesis most likely). Then a mild lift (yes I'm aware of the WK2 issues of this), new AT tires and the TraiHawk Rub-Rails . I might even remove the rear seating - like I plan to do IF I do get a JT .
