I thought if I go from a 35 to a 37 I gain 2 inches of ground clearance, in terms of losing an inch in the wheel well that makes complete sense except I'm running a higher clearance fender so that should off set the 2 inch loss, right?
You are gaining 2" of diameter. That is spread out over the full diameter of the tire. So you are only gaining an inch on each side.

Think of it this way. You put that 35" tire side by side with the 37" tire. To have the center of the wheels match you would lift the 35" tire up 1" to match the center of the 37". So that is 1" more of ground clearance with the 37".

Got it, and thanks it makes sense now.

Also not all tire brands and models measure the same.

My 35's are 34.5"

So in theory, you could have really tall 35s, say the measure 35.25" then go to 37s that only measure 36".

It happens.

I have the same tires. Seems OK on 4.10s until you go 5.13s and see it wake up...which is what I did. Plus driveline load gets reduced.
Not to mention getting 7th and 8th gear back on the highway!

Stock 4.10’s? How does the power feel? Looks great!
Thank you! Ordered it from Chapman in Philly. Great communication and hassle free.

It's a diesel so already has plenty of get up and go even with the bigger tires. But I plan on putting 4.10s on soon in hopes of getting back a few more mpgs.

Let's clear up something else, there is no "extra wide axles". You have the same as a Rubicon or a Max Tow.
The reason for the Mojave having a wider stance from factory is a different back spacing on the OEM wheels.

Good to know because back spacing will definitely need to be a consideration when I get new wheels if I go with the 37s. So I think I'll be fine with no lift, regear (488 or 513) and new wheels. I may include upgrading the brakes. Decisions decisions....lol
