That's a cool winch for its purpose. It's built for rock crawling competition, only holds 50' of rope, and is VERY expensive.

My Badlands 12k winch weighs 62 lb. with the stock steel cable.

That's a big difference from the synthetic rope version weight.
Hard to imagine the rope weighing over 20 pounds more but maybe it does.

The steel rope version is not the new Apex with synthetic. They are 2 different animals.

The Badlands apex winch weighs just under 60lbs, or that's what my scale said when I weighed it on mine. It's a lot more compact that the the XRC version and I'm pretty sure the Apex weighs less based on picking up each box in the store and feeling the weight difference. I didn't actually weigh the XRC because I didn't buy it but my older Badlands 9,000lb winch I ran on my JKU weighed almost 72lbs with the steel cable, I can't imagine the XRC being much different especially since it's a 12,000lb winch.
