Looking for stock JT receiver height

My truck has a 3.5" lift & 42" tires, I neglected to measure stock height a couple years ago and now its time to order trailer parts...

I was hoping someone could do me a huge favor & measure ground to bottom of receiver on their stock gladiator.

Mine is a tow package equipped model but I dont think that matters unless they changed tire size.

When you forget you have your hitch in, it is just about shin height. I still have a bruise to prove it!

I'm at 17 3/4". Close enough to 18"

The optimal hitch ball height for towing a U-Haul trailer is 18½ to 18¾ inches measured from the ground to the middle of the hitch ball. According to U-Haul.

That's probably a good height for most trailers. Some people recommend a slightly lower ball height for the hitch.

Under hard braking, the trailer should push down on the hitch, not upward. If the ball is too high, the trailer could lever the hitch upward taking weight off the rear wheels of the tow vehicle and cause jack-knifing.

I had measured the bottom of the receiver on my 2024 Willys with 32" AT tires and stock suspension about a week ago so I could figure out how much of a drop I needed for a hitch. To the bottom of the hole in the receiver, I measured 17". I went out and checked again, and it's sitting right at 17". I have some stuff in the bed, but not enough to drop the rear end 3/4".

Okay, I just went out and measured from the bottom of my receiver to the driveway and it's 20 inches.

This is a stone stock Overland (ordered 5/19, delivered 7/19) with stock height tires as well.
