Been looking at buying new tires and came across two different versions of the Nitto Ridge Grapplers the LT vs the SL, when comparing the specs to the OEM Bridgestone Dueler tires, I don’t see the point on getting LT tiers unless your using your truck to carry a heavy load or towing frequently. You pay less for the Nitto SL tire and also save on the weight, I’m not planning to tow anything close to the max cap or carrying a heavy load on my bed. Am I missing something here?

I would agree but there are very few non LT tires made in the larger sizes. I went with Toyo AT3s in 285/75/17, they are LT but LR C with 50psi max and not super heavy at 59lbs. They ride pretty well but not sure they are any softer than LR E tire I used to run on my JKU in the same size, Toyo AT2s.

Thank you for your question. Going with an SL or LT version depends on your needs. As long as you go with a tire the same load rating or higher than the OE tire it is safe to run. It you are however going offroading the LT version tires will be more robust than the SL tires.

We'd be happy to help you choose the right tire for your needs if you like, just send us a PM.

LT tires are going to be a lot more durable for off road use.
