I had one on the passenger side of my JK for years, and when I bought the JTR, it was one of the first mods I made. I am 6'5" so I don't need the step on my side, but my wife is 5'6", so she definitely needed it. I didn't want running boards or tube steps because I feel like they visually "lower" the vehicle.

It installs very easily behind the Rubicon rock rails, and it's basically unnoticeable when it is folded up - I had to remind her a few times that it was even there. I think the biggest downside is that it's kinda tough to use when getting out of the Jeep. Most of the time she just hops down without using the step.

The step on my JK got a little creaky over the years, and it also got a little hard to pull the pins out to remove the step before wheeling. I probably could have fixed this easily with some WD or Kroil.

It's pricey, but it's well worth the money in my book.

Who has experience with this. I know a few have mentioned it on this forum but I haven't seen many personally having it and experiencing it.

What do you like/dislike about it?

I like that it is simple, small, light - but I am shocked it is over $170 for just ONE step. Thats thats 350 bucks just for two.
I had them on mine b4 I bought rock sliders. I will sell you 2 for $120 each,

They are pricy but very well made. I have had 4 of them on my JT for 3 years, wife is very happy with them. If you spray the pins with WD40 every couple of months it helps with the removal. I have them installed with Rubicon rock rails and they have been great for my wife and daughter in law.

Can they be mounted anywhere along the rails or only in certain spots?

They can only mount in certain spots along the pinch seam. They piggyback off of the 2 small studs and one larger bolt that hold the factory rock rail on. Jeeps without the factory rock rail will still have the appropriate holes to mount it. It looks like you have a Rubicon so you should be able to poke your head under the center of the front door and see what I'm talking about.

The bolts are positioned in pretty much the perfect place for getting in and out of the front doors. I have never mounted one under a rear door, so I cant speak to the positioning of those holes.

I have two. Wanted them because they fold up to maintain ground clearance. But I probably use them 5% of the time when getting in my Jeep. That said, no regrets.

We love ours. It was our first mod when we bought our JTM. We don't use it for getting out to difficult. But, getting in, way easy.

My Rubicon is on 35s with no lift.
I am 75, 5'6" with no lift.
I thought I needed a Hide-a-Step.
https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/hide-a-step-diy-installation-tips-and-tricks.66016/

But, I don't use it...

Correction:

Not so fast.
In the fullness of time,
I have modified how I get in with my Hide-a-Step.

Instead of stepping on it with the ball of my foot
and twisting my knee,
I slide my foot forward placing my heel on the step.
Then my foot and leg are free to pivot outward,
saving my knee.

I've started using my step on a regular basis now
and I like it.

Back to the original post:

and I do not rock crawl.
My three dogs have not figured out
how to use it.

In my opinion, the step is a bit too high
and too far back.
It is not particularly helpful getting in
definitely not helpful if trying to get out.

But I do use my M.O.R.E. Dead Pedal.
https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/forum/threads/m-o-r-e-dead-pedal-more-than-a-foot-rest.66180/
Positioned as close to the seat as possible
(about even with the brake pedal).
To get in, I brace my right foot against the dead pedal,
pull on the grab handle with my left hand
and push down on the seat with my right fist
to lever myself up and in.

To get out, right foot on the dead pedal,
right hand on the grab handle,
left hand on the handle of the open door
and swing out and lower myself down.

In my situation, I would probably have been better off
with full length , dropped down running boards.
They would probably block a lot of crud from the tires, too.
Instead, I got great big Rubicon Red RokBlokz mud flaps.

this is exactly what my concern was. If it is so far back you cant swing your other leg between your left leg and the truck body to be helpful getting in.

I can bring my right leg through to get in
but it is awkward and twists my left knee.
The step is so high I have to duck under the door frame
as I pivot on the step.

My wife's Yukon had a running board.
It was much handier.

I bought a pair and installed them on my 2020 Rubicon JT because my wife complained about getting in and out and I did not want running boards. Wife used them one time and said it was unnatural to use and she never used them again. Only use I found for them was getting to the top of the hardtop to wash. It was one of the few mods I left on when I traded in and did not port over to my other Gladiator.

One consideration is that if a person has OE rock sliders
and wants to keep those rock sliders
and have an easily removable step
the Hide-a-Step will allow that to be achieved.

Almost thought about buying a set. But after all your reviews maybe passing on them.
