As someone who has driven deep sand all their life still confuses me while people put M/T tires on a vehicle they plan on using it in the sand a lot.. See lots of people saying they bought the Mojave for sand and putting MT Tires on them.

Agreed, I believe MTs are an option on the Mojave as well so dealers probably add them on.

Honestly, neither are really much better or worse from my experience. They'll both likely get stuck in the same spots, and they'll both likely need traction boards to get out. People who are real serious about sand get a set of paddle tires. People who do a large variety of off-road trails, including sand, are fine with M/Ts. Those doing varied road driving along with off-roading will usually lean towards A/Ts for comfort.

I run mt's on my Mojave but I didn't really buy it as a sand rig. I run mostly mountain trails and roads where I encounter mud and snow. The comfort and ride of the Mojave is so much better than my Rubicon off the lot is main reason I chose it.

I also run M/T’s on my Mojave. Best all purpose tires IMO.
Fine on dry, wet ,and great in snow. And the Falkens are quiet on the road.

As long as they aren't putting them on 24" wheels, why not. I die a little inside every time I see a lifted vehicle with huge rims and low profile tires. That's like adding a performance tuner set for premium then always filling up with regular.

In the Northeast I can see a use case where someone wants the best road performing Gladiator so they get the Mojave. But they also play on the power line trails or logging roads that can be muddy.

Though this is a great video and shows what I suspected but wasn't sure of. That mud tires, designed to dig down are not great on sand.

Thanks for the info.

Surprised to see several comments of MTs being good In snow. MTs are generally not good in snow, Falken MTs, the optional MT tire on the JT are not snow rated and Falken rates them a 3 out of 5 for winter performance, the Falken AT3W are 3pmsf rated and Falken has winter performance at 4.5

The struggle is real. I occasionally run into situations where I’m having to run through Texas gumbo (silty clay muck that accumulates like making a snowman) for those not from Texas. MT’s are a must in these situations but I also run in the sand 2-3 times a week so best thing I’ve found so far are Goodyear MTR Kevlars, but I’m impressed with my wildpeak AT’s so far but air down is a must. Probably go MTR after I burn up my Falkens.

I think the op was referring to people who say the intended use for their Mojave is mostly sand. If that’s the case there’s no reason to bash the thread. I agree with one of the posters that style of tires doesn’t really matter. Sand conditions and psi have the most to do with getting stuck, oh yeah and driving ability.

Ah, so OP has put together two different parts through a faulty assumption:

1.) Many Mojave people intend to use them for sand running.
2.) Many Mojaves are ordered with MTs.

Therefore;

The people ordering Mojaves for sand running are running with MTs.

-------------------------

OP can rest assured that these two points above are not exclusive to each other. There are plenty of cases with plenty of people where those two points do not co-exist.
