Living in MT with many off road trails close to home, there are quite a few of the Roxor's up here, but NOT lately. I don't see anyone selling them anymore. I looked at these a few years ago and was very tempted when I could get a low mileage one for under 15K... In MT, you can make them street legal easily and many have. And then the other states have to let you drive them if you take em on trips.

Well, my point now is that the cost on these things has doubled over the last three years... To get an enclosed cab, you will need in the 27K PLUS range.... even a stripped one now is in the 20K range. I was like shocked seeing this... Last time I was looking around the start of Covid, I could get a new one for under 14K 120 miles away from me and a loaded one enclosed cab with winch bumper/winch KO2's for 18K.

I mean right now with the Stellantis 15% off MSRP incentive and many dealers matching it, I see a sport with the big UConnect Screen, hard top and a spray in bedliner for 31,170 bucks in San Juan Capistrano CA. And you can get a NEW Gladiator for UNDER 30,000 bucks in a few places. I am seeing stripped Sports in Hemet CA for 29K and change... soft tops, but so what...

Bye bye Mahindra...

Jeep didn't like it as there were many features that were kind of knock off of Jeep so Jeep/Fiat took and kept them in court basically trying to shut them down from selling the Roxor. Mohindra almost threw in the towel but won some legal battles in court and can now sell the newely revamped Roxor. FCA/Jeep are still trying to stop it via the courts but they likely will not win. The newer version added engine options as well as you mentioned enclosed cabs, changed some design styling. Cost for parts and Materials went up as did the cost of the vehicles. Mohindra is the largest producer and seller of Farm Tractors in the world so they have some cash to back them up. With them winning recent court battles its likely they will be back into their niche roll again.

I hope so, but the prices are now close to competitive with a full on Gladiator. I know the reasons, but that is a no competition thing now.

I followed the Mahindra Roxor story for years and know how hard they had to fight well first Chrysler Corp ,then Mercedes, then FCA and now Stellantis. It really peeves the "Jeep" Corp people that they were actually given a license to build jeeps during WWII that did not have an expire date. That pretty much gives Mahindra a legal cornerstone from which to...build...on. I'm also aware of their tractor background.

And although simple, they are much more than a modern ATV that costs as much or more than them and my argument applies to many units now days. The ROXOR's are robust simple vehicles that really hearken back to the early first second gen CJ days... People I've talked to really really like them.

One guy I spoke with back before Covid had bought em for his landscaping business. He has like five of em, made street legal for MT that are set up for spraying and light work but he does tow everything from tanks for the sprayers to small Bobcat E10 back hoes... He said they were indestructible and would go anywhere...

I don't know why people would buy a Mahindra when you can get a decent TJ for half the price and drive it on the highway.

That was my deal when I first started looking at them. I ended up going with a 2018 Jeep Renegade daily driver that's now four years old. I have my wife''s Cherokee and a Ram 2500 for the trailer, transfer station etc. My wife is very possessive of her garage queen Cherokee. The Renegade has been a great daily driver but has limitations. I have a good 10 or so off road trails (NOT MOAB BUT MORE THAN THE RENEGADE) I want to go on that a Gladiator will do. Plus the wife retired but then went back to work because she was bored and we were looking back then for toad for like a Class C. We ended up sticking with a travel trailer, since she went back to work.

So, here I am Renegade ready for trade almost paid for, and looking. I have been concentrating on the Gladiators due to the incentives, but thought I'd take a look at the Roxor again and that was when I was stunned by the prices now vs pre-covid. I looked at Gladiators when they first came out but they were very expensive at first whereas, now with the incentives, they are becoming quite reasonable...

This is why I laugh when people say jeep has priced people out. Sure you can go crazy and option away to 70k+ but you can also get a street legal and significantly more comfortable vehicle for literally a couple grand more than a sxs.

Yes the top end of jeeps have gone expensive, but the low end of jeeps are still relatively cheap compared to the market.

I saw a Smart car on a lot the other day for $5k. It had me thinking, could that be a foundation for a cheap street legal SxS? ?

I just picked up a 2023 Roxor. It is fun and reminds me of my CJ5. I'll end up with tossing ton of cash at it doing stupid stuff.
