Jeff has been in touch... unprovoked. Still on course.

Dear Chris,

This is a courtesy email update regarding your 2020 Jeep Gladiator factory order status.

A review of our 2020 Jeep Gladiator order shows it remains scheduled with a production plan timing the week of August 26th.

I will continue to monitor your order and provide further updates as they become available.

We appreciate your patience as we launch this exciting new product.

Sincerely,

Jeff

Although I only ordered about 3 weeks ago, I think I am going to be proactive and cancel my order (currently in C) or have them modify my order to an 8 speed. I was on the fence between 8 speed and m/t but given that it looks like there is no end in sight for anyone that ordered body colored fenders and top and now that the affiliate discount is offered, I think that swayed me to an 8 speed. Also the gearing I think will handle 37s better without a regear. Surprisingly adding the auto and advance safety but deleting the tonneau cover (I'll just get a $150 one) has only increased my price by less than $1700 (5% under invoice to now 6% under invoice). Contacting my dealer now to see if I can modify the order or need to cancel and reorder.

And done, new 8 speed order placed today. Dealer said he can't cancel my old one, I'll be curious to see when they get it.

Well, I told my dealer to cancel my order this morning after last weeks "C" status regression and confirmation of it this morning with FCA Chat. Their giving me the run around and haven't said it can or can't be cancelled (which I know better from the group). I asked them to do a locate on currently available Gladiators with my build requirements MINUS the M/T. There are 3-4 of them available within a reasonable driving distance, so we'll see if they can finagle a trade (they know damn well i'll drive to the dealer and buy it direct).

Now to bite the bullet. I own a JKUR with a 6-speed M/T and I love it on a daily basis, but it is an absolute DOG when towing. I've stated this a few times before when others have asked about the Gladiators ability to tow with a M/T. With the Gladiators 5th gear being the same as the old 6th gear, basically the same motor, a set of 35" tires and I see it being an even worse tow vehicle (in the M/T arrangement). I love being able to shift gears and have that "connection" with the vehicle/road, but at what cost? Honestly, if I were to get a M/T Gladiator and it towed the same (or worse) than my JKUR, i'd regret it, period. When it comes to spending this amount of money, the vehicle should be able to do everything I'd like it to, in reason, in a somewhat stock form (no engine swaps, etc). So I'm about to pull a Troutman and bail on the M/T, that is unless someone with a M/T Gladiator can tell me, from personal experience, that it pulls a trailer that weighs 2,000 to 3,000 lbs with NO issues in 5th or 6th gear, especially with a head wind.....
Sounds like all things considered you're going the right direction. Between the shenanigans and your towing, getting an auto might just be the trick.

I don't really tow anything, so I'm willing to give up some performance there for the joy of shifting, but if it was a big part of what I was doing with it, I'd probably have gone automatic.

Chrcal, thank you. Kinda funny, in talking to Troutman, he got an e-mail from Jeff today about his cancelled M/T order.... Maybe they don't really cancel the order once a VIN is created and it will just get built at some point in time.

That was the impression I was given, that the ordering dealer still has to take the vehicle. I think we've seen it a few times here where people said a vehicle was still going to a dealer.

I don't know if that's unavoidable or if the dealers are just ok with it and let it go through since it gets them another truck outside of however the dealer allocation system works.

week 14. drove to the dealership last friday and test drove an in stock Sport S automatic. I took the advice of someone on here to do that. Only problem is it kinda had the 'loose steering' stuff everyone has been talking about but I ain't buying that one. 3 weeks in JB status now. I am looking at used WRXs and used GTIs bored today at work.... why

Got the call today, my JT arrived at the dealership. Picking it up tomorrow. Just spent about an hour printing up all of my negotiating tools and Tread Lightly went live on the 21st! Secured my financing 3.14% at 72 months, but hoping Chrysler will beat that if I buy an extended warranty. I will prove everything with pictures tomorrow!

White Rubicon MT, 3 piece black hard top, tow package, LED lighting, cold weather group, aux switch group, spray in bedlinen, all weather mats. Plan on financing the Decked bed storage system, the sunrider top and mopar's sun shade. Tires are scheduled to arrive on Wednesday (hope to get them mounted for a weekend road trip) and bumper and winch will go on Wednesday or Thursday!

Ordered 4/22---dealer put it in as an AT, reordered 5/20 as MT.

I dread that that mine sits in JB or KZ for an extended time if they do start building it this week. Just going to hope not if it gets moving.

That would be just one last punch in the gut.

You're definitely exploring the range of options!

So what exactly does "escalated" mean? Has anyone actually seen any movement once they have been "escalated"? Here's is my JeepChat from Friday morning and I haven't heard a word since:

Mathew (‎8‎/‎23‎/‎2019‎ ‎8‎:‎56‎:‎35‎ ‎AM): Thank you for waiting Lance and I apologize for the wait. I do see the order in our system, and it's currently showing as primary schedule established based on production capacity. However, that doesn't seem exactly right to me, so what I would like to do is escalate this up to our information team so that they can look into this further for you and see what exactly is going on and why it hasn't moved into the actual production status. Just to confirm, the best phone number to reach you at is the xxx-xxx-xxxx and the best email address is [email protected] correct?
Me (‎8‎/‎23‎/‎2019‎ ‎8‎:‎57‎:‎10‎ ‎AM): correct, thank you
Mathew (‎8‎/‎23‎/‎2019‎ ‎8‎:‎58‎:‎22‎ ‎AM): You're welcome. As soon as that team has new information on your order, they will be contacting you. Is there anything else i could look into for you today Lance?
