In every picture I've seen of Gladiators on the MC GC 3.5" lift it looks a little squat in the rear. I'm considering adding spacers to the rear at install time.

Any suggestions on what to use? Anyone with one installed that can verify or deny that the back end squats a bit?

Don’t mean to hijack, but I’m considering the same lift, would you mind measuring a couple things? Specifically the height to the driver side door sill, (bottom of drivers door), and then the base of the tailgate? That’ll give a good sense of the rake change from stock and roof height.

For comparison the stock Rubi on 33 MTs measures 23” and 32” respectively. Are you on 37’s? Thanks!

The lift is still in boxes right now. I'll get measurements once it's installed though in a few weeks. It will be on Nitto Trail Grappler 37s.

I'm running the 3.5" MC lift and want to throw a spacer in the rear because it looks squatty to me. I'm leaning towards a 1.5 inch spacer. Here's some pics. It's on 37" KO2s.

Sure thing! Have you found any 1.5 inch rear spacers? The closest I'm finding is the Icon 1 3/8" rear spacer

I was just about to ask what brands everyone preferred. I don't have one chosen yet.

I am doing this lift also. With BFG ko2 37s. Looking at the pictures I don’t get the sense of a squatty look. ( tail dragger) can some post some measurements that illustrate this. Seems to me that adding 1.5 inches would be tipping it forward aka rake?

These are the measurements I took before and after. I've been looking at the gap between the tire and fender. From my measurements (if you subtract 2" from going from 33s to 37s) the rear only got lifted about an inch and the front was lifted 2.75". The Metalcloak kit levels the truck out but I'm concerned with being able to load the bed down and not have the rear end squat too much.

Stock
  • Front fender - 40"
  • Rear fender - 40"
  • Middle of rock rail - 17.75"
  • Bottom of hitch - 18"
Lift and tires
  • Front fender - 44.75"
  • Rear fender - 42.75"
  • Middle of rock rail - 21.5"
  • Bottom of hitch - 19.75"

Thanks. I have the same concern. I'll have some weight in the rear at all times.

I am putting 1 3/8" Icon spacers in at install time. If it seems too high in the rear they will come out when the new gears get put in. Or get replaced with some smaller ones. Just going to have to try it and see how it looks.

I really want the GC lift, but it really doesn't appear to be on par with the height of the competitions 3.5" lifts. Does Metalcloak measure the lift in the front or rear of the truck?

It’s odd that your before measurements don’t show any rake, would assume the rear fender would have been higher at stock

That's on a Rubicon and the front fenders are higher than the rear. With the rake on stock suspension the fenders are actually the same height from the ground but the rest of the truck is raked forward. It's kind of odd that they designed the front fenders to be that much higher (2") than the rear.

Just a quick follow up. I haven't taken after measurements yet but here is how it looks with the Icon 1 3/8 spacers in the rear. I like the way it sits.
