MetalCloak rear sway bar bracket and RockBlokz flaps

Had a Clayton 1.5” Overland+ done this past week. I went with the MetalCloak rear sway bar brackets as an upgrade over the weak stock mounting point on the chassis.

Long/short, the RockBlokz rear mud flap mount does not work together with the sway bar brackets without some modification.

I replaced the stock G8.8 M8x1.25 with some x50mm length bolts, and some 5/16 fender washers stacked to create a stand off. The front of the brackets took 5 washers to get flush, the rear took 3. Sandwiched it all back, retorqued to spec, and now we see if it all holds up.

I would have just opted to ditch the rear flaps, but don’t want to throw a ton of mud/dirt when I trailer.

I did it years ago and held up fine, had to cut a 1/2” x 1/2” slot in mudflap bracket , and put that on under sway bar brace , I have narrow tires and have the mudflaps all the way in, so they don’t stick out much. Yours is fine also. ……Jack

I just cut a little notch into the mudflap bracket, there's more than enough material there to hold the flap without an issue. I've been running it that way for over a year, including scraping the mudflaps in a couple spots - no bending or other problems.

I’ve been eyeing/putting off this for a while. I really need to get my rear rokblokz on. What would you guys recommend using to make the cut?

A die grinder works well, or you can use an angle grinder on the edge, the cut doesn't have to be wide or very deep.

I thought about pulling the bracket and going under with a similar cut...I still may eventually. I'll see how these washers and longer bolts hold up--good to know going under the sway bracket also works.
