They pick up rocks for sure. But they’re designed to. I think that softer compound makes them killer on ice. According to Mickey support, the Baja legend exp doesn’t pickup rocks like the Baja boss. Better in deep snow, not as good on ice. 2ply sidewall instead of 3, but 10lbs lighter in the 37. They’re likely my next tire. And much cheaper.
They handled the 1.5' feet of snow we had in January like a Champ ice they was terrific I only slipped a couple time. Mostly due to my lead foot. I think I will take a look at the baja legend exp and mtz and see about that tread pattern.

So far so good Now I sorta screwed up and bought E rated ,I didn't realize they was E cause it wasn't in the Ad but was in the receipt and I have been running them at 27psi cold they have done really well in the snow I have 18thousand on them been rotating 5-6miles usually will oil change or very close . And they have plenty of life . They are NOT cupping and I love that. Worse thing is on these 0°F and -9 degree mornings when ya first start out the tires are cold and it will have a flat spot for about a mile or so. When smooths out quickly. I have been driving them in mud & snow & 3" limestone rock and they have performed very well and handle the rock very well and seem very resilient and tough. They do right an little rougher . But they barely have a sagging place in the side even on those cold days and they hold curves well.
I am unaware of wether they are available in a D rating .
Summary:
Pros
1. Tough tire
2. Great tread life
3. Good in snow and mud
4.They are set up for studs if ya want .
5. They are not noisy even after 18k
Cons
1. E rating
2. Have to run lower PSI
3. Will get a flat spot that works out after tire warms up on frigid mornings.

Ive run both . Kenda Klever RT & Mickey Thompson Baja Boss AT. Presently on the Baja Boss. They are both good tires. When it comes time to get new tires, would probably go with Kenda if they are are lot of $$ less. If not much price difference will probably go with Bajaj just because they made in USA.

I liked both as well but the baja boss AT is much better in wet conditions in my experience and to me, that makes the baja boss a better bargain.

25k miles on my baja boss at 37's. Honestly can't imagine a tire could be any better. Zero complaints. Beast in all conditions on and off road. Made in the USA. And they look good too 😁

Hands down the Kenda's. I've had a set of the RTs on both my Land Rover Perentie and my Hilux. Both have over 20k of hard miles on them (as a guide in Moab, Oregon and Arizona) and no chips or tear outs and look almost brand new. Unbeatable for the Money and wear and tear. I'm now running the MTs on the Gladiator, only 5k on these, but still awesome. Save money and headaches and go with the Kenda.
Do you have a comparison between the MT and RT?

I´ve got Kendas on my Gladiator. They are probably the best tire I have ever had, across all conditions. We did Moab in October and they were really impressive and did not chunk like many tires I´ve had before have done. The Kendas have about 35k on them and seem to have barely worn. Of course, I do a 5 tire rotation, so each would have a little less than 35k. But still, the lack of wear is very impressive.

I am a big fan of C rated tires over E, but I can´t imagine having a better tire, all around, than these.

I have the Kendas , find that they do well in snow , mud , sand and water, they are studable tires.. yes they will accept tire studs and are set up for them. I have NOT done a 5 tire rotation I run 27psi cold and they seem to wear very well, I currently have 21k on them and from the looks of them another 20k easy. I work in sharp hammered rock and raw dirt with native stone sticks tree roots etc. Then finishing out to 3" limestone and there isn't a chunk out of any of them. They also are very quiet on the road very little noise. I actually have to turn the radio off to hear them ... so far I 👍 like .
MT Baja Boss MT's start out great then just get noisier and nosier. But the time I got to the last of them I actually was actually being assaulted by the noise.
But they dug in the mud better than any tire I ever owned period bar none.

The MT's are louder on the road, as would be expected, but I use that vehicle mostly for mud and sand. If you are gonna have one set of tires for all activities, I would always go with the RT's. They have the better sidewall protection.

How do the RT perform in mud or sand? I'll be mainly using these tires in the summer.

I have found the Kendas to be outstanding in both. They are not a mud tire, but they are a pretty aggressive all-terrain. You can get them to clear with a little throttle. It would take a little more than it would with an MT. Generally, I have found all-terrains to be better than MT´s in sand, anyway, because they don´t dig like an MT. The Kendas do well.

I have had the Kenda Klever's for several years now and still have tons of tread. They are fairly aggressive tread being an RT and no road noise. I wanted 35's and skinny so they fit the bill, I was also looking at the Cooper SST at the time I bought the Kenda's.
I will look into the Mickey Thompson Baja. However, I got burned once on my Tacoma I had Mickey Thompson Deegan 38 and while they did great off road I am pretty sure they were made out of candle wax because they didn't last on the road...horrible.
