Anyone gotten their paws on one of these yet? Seems they’re under the top seller list so figured someone may have. Looking for feedback on the connectivity between the head unit and mic while I wait for the 50w version to drop.

I might have to dig into this one. I’ve been planning mounting location and routing as I look at purchasing a gmrs unit. I’m Wanting the unit mounted to the back wall, so this would alleviate some cable routing.

I was stoked when this first popped up. But it's only 15 amps and I guarantee that mic is going to end up under my feet or end up flying out the window the first nasty bump I hit when I'm using it on the trail. I'd still need a lanyard to keep it handy with or without the cable. Our cops have the BT mic and it's going about as well as you'd expect...

Not sure I’d use the magnetic mount on there but I’d have to strength test it. I’m going to hold off and see if they release a 595. There have been muttering about one but nothing solid yet. Not going to make a huge difference but I’d rather go with the higher wattage unit myself. Watched a lot of reviews but always take those with a grain of salt when people get them for free.

I'm pretty sure they are going to put out a stand alone BT handmic. It wouldn't be too hard, just a transceiver that plugs into the mic port and a new hand mic. The port would power it. My guess is that if this one does well, the 595 will come out next year and then a year after that, the backwards compatible handmic.

I had the MXT275 (15W) with no issues. I wanted to eventually get the MXT575 (50W) but the price was a bit more than i wanted to spend.

I ended up getting the BTECH GMRS-50PRO for just under $300.. not sure what the MXT295 has to offer, but the BTECH at least has dual band and is 50W. Might be an alternate for you. Mounts dont get in the way of the passenger (at least not in the wife's way; or anyone else sitting passenger)

@cmgar80 Its mostly the wireless handset that intrigues me on it. Be pretty cool to have the head unit behind the rear seat and the handset up front with no cords to deal with. Would also play into my power options of running a second battery under the rear seat. Not sure though. May be too intense of a power source too close to the unit. For safety, I should probably put the base under the driver’s seat. Just trying to figure out what legos go where in this thing.
