Just added a new bumper and winch to my 22 Mojave and it seems like im hitting the hydraulic bumps fairly easily at low speed. Think hitting a speed bump at 5mph or a unnoticed hole off-road at low speed and feeling them. Strangely it doesn’t seem to do it at higher speed. Anyone else notice this?

How much height did you lose? You probably also need a bump in low mid speed valving in your shocks to combat the weight addition.

less than a 1/4” of drop. I don’t think the Mojave valving is adjustable.

I would find this one hard to believe unless that bumper weighs a ton. I would see if somehow you could film it (GoPro) to see what is really happening. This could be several things making noise...

1/4" drop isn't that much to create a big reduced bump gap, so it probably needs more damping. Correct, valving is not externally adjustable on the OE 3.0's.

Its definitely a heavy bumper total added weight with bumper and winch is ~175. I was actually expecting more droop.

The mojave is not a rock crawler. Its sensitive to a big chunk of mass hanging on its nose.
Ive held off adding a winch for that reason. You can shed about 30lbs by swapping the Mojave hood for a sport hood though.

I've seen number thrown around like 15lb spring rate increase for every 100lb axle weight added. Your bumper/winch are located in front of the axle, so that's a few more lb actual axle weight than what you added on the front too.

Sadly the bumper/winch is so far forward its weight is magnified going over bumps. Imagine if its was sticking out five feet on a steel beam. its mass is multiplied. So the lightest bumper/winch combo possible pays off on preserving what the Mojave was designed for.

Isn’t this the reason for not having a steel bumper option from the factory? I almost went for the Rubicon because I really really wanted a steel bumper, but I realized that I am not going to rock crawl, but will certainly blast down the trails.

Yep. Lessons learned. I actually like the way it drives with the added weight, aside from hitting the bumpstops every now and then. They aren’t completely bottoming out just touching so it’s really not a big problem.

Steel winch line or synthetic? I am running the warn evo 10S with synthetic line and a rubicon steel bumper and the ride is still great on this Mojave. I have used steel winch line on other vehicles and the weight difference between the two is pretty significant.

I have the stock bumper and feel mine hit the bump stops on things like speed bumps, dips in the intersection, or going to fast on ruts. I dont mean all the time just if i dont slow down a little. Did you have time to drive it stock for a while?
