Just got my jeep back from getting the tires and alignment done. Did the mopar 2 inch lift and 255/85R17 Mickey Thompson tires. The shop said the rear brake lines are stretched pretty good. Has anyone else noticed this? There was nothing in the instructions that I remember seeing about relocating or an extension bracket. I will say I gained more than 2 inches from this kit. Guess it will settle some?

I just did a AEV 3in and at full droop mine are stretched as far as they will go, so I'll be ordering some extended lines. At ride height it's fine tho.

I’ve had the Mopar lift on for the past four years with no problems.

Yeah same here I'm assuming they meant at full droop. I know on the AEV kit I put on my wrangler it came with brackets to relocate where the rear brake line attaches to the frame. There were nothing like that in the Mopar kit.

Mopar 2" lift and the skinny MT tires here as well. Did the install ourselves. Didn't have any concerns about the brake lines after things were buttoned back up. It's been 6 months or so? Can't recall. No issues regardless.

There were a couple of moments during the install when the springs were out and the axle was at its lowest point that I suppose could cause some brake line (and wiring) issues if you weren't paying attention, but it's pretty well addressed in the instructions. The wiring for the locker switches on the diffs even has some extra length built-in and zip tied up from the factory to account for the lift, if I recall.

I have a Clayton 2.5 inch lift and had to replace my fronts because they were over extended. There are two considerations, the amount of lift but also the amount articulation the changes in the suspension allow. Some kits allow more articulation than others based on he components in the kit. I would caution on using the shocks as the "limiting straps". Why not put shock extenders on with the OEM shocks and drive it a little while? Then, after you have some experience with how it is performing, you decide on your path forward. New extended brake lines are significantly cheaper than shocks.

Same here on AEV 2.5”, rear brake lines are stretched pretty tight, but I’m prepared if a trail failure occurs.

on my JK, I damaged a front brake line wheeling 500 miles from home with nowhere to get parts. I carry a lot of gear for self recovery, so just threaded a screw inside the broken brake line and used a zip tie to secure the screw in place for the trip home. I always have brake fluid, so topped off the master and drove home with three working brakes. Would never have guessed a screw threaded into a rubber brake line would hold up to the pressure.

When I had my MOPAR lift installed the shop that did it recommended longer rear lines. They are a local jeep specialty shop that came highly reccommended, and for an extra 125 I said sure, did I really need them, don't know but there is plenty of length and nowhere near stretched at full droop. I got 3.5 out of mine and it has settled almost half an inch in the last year
