Mopar Roll Up Tonneau Cover

I’m planning on getting a Tonneau cover for my new Gladiator. I had a Bakflip X4S on my last Gladiator which I liked but I sold it with the cover on. The prices are a little higher now and I was thinking about saving some money and getting the Mopar Roll Up Tonneau Cover. I figure it will match the premium soft top material and it looks like it is an easy install and should work fairly well.

So, for those of you with the factory roll up tonneau, how do you like it? Also, does it hold up well long term?(I saw some reviews online about wear)

Why wouldn't it? It's all MOPAR accessories and people order them together all the time. (well, not ALL the time, but enough........)

The trail rail system bolts on well under the bed "lip" while the cover rides on top of the bed. It's only bolted onto the bed at the front like most roll-ups.
Nice thing is - with a Torx 50 and ratchet you can remove the cover in 3 or 4 minutes tops. Roll it up, strap it (with the attached velcro straps) and take out two bolts, lift it off.

The MOPAR trail rails attach where my rails are, and you can see the rear tonneau cover latch on the bed above the rail I installed.

Coming up on three years. Year round. A few winters. Now a year in combination with a rack. No issues. It’s tough, holds up well, works well and looks good.

I’m not sure where you are, but I have mine for sale. I am located in northern California.

Mine works and looks just as nice as when I got it, and I actually bought mine second hand (along with the trail rail system, too) both from JKLivin833.

So, yeah.. has held up perfectly.

One thing to note, if you buy second hand, Mopar actually reversed the mounting points at some point between 20 and 21. Can't remember which is which at this point, but one year has the front mounting pegs at the top, and the bolts on the bottom.. and another year has the mounting pegs on the bottom, and the bolts at the top.

Both mount OK, but one will require you to find a creative way to get the nuts on the back of the bolts, by squeezing your hand between the bed and the back of the cab.


Still, probably one of the best purchases I've made for the JT. Though, I'm still looking for a more secure tonneau, since I'm routinely in downtown STL, which has been a hotbed of car break ins recently.

Mine has held up well so far.
I purchased a left over '22 last December.

You mentioned it matching the premium soft top.
Although I have the painted hard top, I don't think mine would match the premium soft.
I have had a few wranglers with the premium soft tops and this is nothing like it.

I probably got a "covid - let's see what we can put together" version.

I will say that when it is rolled up, I love the fact that the top of the bed rails are bare. No tracks

The nice thing about the mopar one, compared to some others, is that it doesnt interfer with the trail rail. I dont know how many do, but my cover is attached via the trail rail so sections of the rail get "blocked" off by the clamps.

My Jeep that hole wasn't threaded, Rugged Ridge has a bracket that goes over the bed with a bolt that lines up with the hole. Might work with the Mopar Roll up as well.

Bout 2 years too late to discover that now

I used an old trick my dad showed me years ago, with string and super glue. You can attach a string, via super glue to a steel nut or bolt, and once it bonds, that bond will last about 15-30 mins while the temperature is changing outside. The steel and the super glue bond will expand at different rates, and after the 15-30 mins is up, it'll just pop off on it's own. Have used that trick on so many old cars over the years, that have weirdly positioned bolts or nuts

That said, no idea how the heck I'm going to remove the bolts when the time comes.. will probably have to cut them off if I can't get the nut to bind against the back of the bed.

To be honest, I probably should have just drilled it out a bit, and put a rivnut there.. but.. meh... hindsight 20/20 and all that.

To answer OPs question, I dig mine and asked the same question here before purchasing one. I got mine for ~$200 from OfferUp and one thing I didn't realize because it was rolled up was that one of the straps were frayed which I THOUGHT was causing my issue @Rusty PW showed but now that I know of this cable, I might check that out.

I also had to buy rivnuts because my bed didn't have anything up front and unfortunately, it's hard to find TWO! So I have a pack of 23 sitting in my garage!

Definitely dig it and like mentioned, like that the bed rails are clean when rolled up. I went from a tri-fold because my rear mountain bike tire rubbed the tri when in the back and stuffing 2 kayaks in the back strained the tri-fold.
