I have a 2022 Gladiator diesel. It's got about 3K miles on it now with no problems. I keep getting emails, and US Mail offers from Jeep pushing the Protection Plan pretty hard. Am I being swayed by their marketing? Did anyone else buy this?

How risk adverse are you? In the aggregate, the plans are calculated that MOPAR will come out ahead and will be a waste of money for most.

That being said, the Diesel seems to be more risk oriented over the gas to be a larger out of pocket expense if something should go wrong. If you cannot absorb a sudden cost, then the plan may be a thing for you.

If you pull the trigger on it, it's less expensive now than waiting till 30k miles, which is the position I'm in. You'll likely get pros and cons from both sides of the fence. From my experience, I figured I would wait and see what types of issues might arise while under the factory 3/36. Now having said that, I'm studying options for that extended warranty.

This was my first Jeep and I had heard a lot of horror stories about their reliability. I chalked a lot of that up to people who think they can rock crawl but have no clue what they are doing, but still, it was on my mind. When I looked into it, I found there were a couple dealerships that would sell you the warranty at cost + ~$100. I told that to Gupton at the time of purchase and was able to get the 7 year, mid level, warranty for under a grand (IIRC).

I think Gupton, Tom Winkles and one other big Jeep dealership (Granger or something like that) all offer them discounted. Might look into that.

Thanks, all. I've had many Jeeps over the years, and always waved off the Extended Warranty, but this is my first diesel of any sort so I'm a little apprehensive. And, nope, I'm not an influencer or anything like that.

If your not an "influencer," then you're reading my mind because i have been considering this exact thing since i got my diesel back from the dealer...?.

If i do it, it will definitely be at one of those places that offer it ~$50 above cost. The place where i bought mine was not one of those places.

I went with the extended warranty for peace of mind and because I plan to keep this truck for a long time. I would definitely get one if I had the diesel engine. Do it soon, as the age and mileage increase the cost goes up.

I get why some could be suspicious as this is my one and only post (so far). I'm just a little nervous because it's my first diesel and now the price of fuel is going up. I'm second guessing myself as to my diesel decision. But so far, I love it.

If you want to keep it long term buy the warranty. This early you should be able to get a decent price. But as others have said shop around. I priced from numerous sources and ended up buying from one of the discount dealers mentioned on this forum.

I figured it this way. I am making payments, to keep payments low, for a while. It would be a terrible thing to have an engine blow up and still be making payments on something that also costs an extra 10K to then fix. So i got a plan that lasted as long as i will be making payments. After that, then anything is fair game.
