So forgive me if this is a stupid question. I have only ever ran A/T tires, but I am currently in the market for 37's and several that Im interested in seem to be M/T tires. I am concerned about having m/t's in the snow because during the winter months we spend much of our time in an area that sees between 5-10ft plus of snow a year. Ive read some conflicting threads on m/t's being slick in the snow, and others saying that they are great. I am currently interested in the bfg km3, Nitto ridge grappler r/t, but I really like the look of the general grabber x3's. If anyone has any advice or experience with these it would be much appreciated.

I'm in Maine and ran stock BFG M/T (I think they were KM2) on my JK, and they were great in 4WD in the snow. Better than the Dick Cepeks I ran before them, which were supposedly a hybrid AT/MT. So this time around I went with MT. If you can find something with sipes, even better. You probably sipe a non-siped tread.

Thank you very much. Was looking at those myself, the price is great right now.

Conventionally, I think a/t’s with the snow ratings are better than m/t’s. Might differ by manufacturer though

I had Firestone 35 MTs on my JK and they did fine and I never had any problems with my KM2s in the snow. ATs are supposed to be better but MTs are still very good in my experience.

Snow tires are best. Snow rated A/Ts are second best. But that doesn't mean M/Ts won't work. I particularly like the MTs that offer some siping, such as the Yokohama Geolandar M/T G003, Milestar Patagonia M/T, etc. In fact, I personally like tires that clean out and bite the road surface. Some prefer tires that pack with snow on purpose, but not me. Those seem to "push" into curves and I don't like it. I want some bite.

Thank you very much. I would rather have them clean out myself. Im looking for 37x12.50x18's and seem to be having come across many tires that ar A/T's in that size. The General grabbers look really good to me and have siping. But again never have ran MT's in the snow. So a little apprehensive.

I am looking at the KM2's right now also because they have siping and come in the size I'm looking for of 37x12.5x18. They are a super good price right now because I think they are trying to phase them out for the KM3's. To me the KM3's don't look good as they have no siping.

Most recommend Goodyear duratracs but they only go up to 35” in size. I’m in the same boat as you... looking for a 37 that can handle some snow and ice on ski trips as well as plenty of rain (Seattle), while still having the aggressive looks and capability of a m/t. I think I’ll wing it for now and try the milestars

I totally wanted to originally go with Milestars. I really like the look, and the price. Lite write has a good video review of them in deep snow. But i got a crazy good deal on a set of brand new black rhino mozambique wheels for $500, but they are 18's. I love the look of the wheels, but they have put me in this weird spot with what tires I can get. Milestar 37's come in 17's, or 20's. LOL. Let me know what you go with , and how they do. Im hoping to score something good on black friday.

I have General X3`s on my Ford Raptor and my experience is that they do very good in snowy conditions. On my Gladiator i`m going with Milestar MT`s.

From what I have seen online the KM2s aren't that great in the snow, and the grabbers are alright.. I had Duratracs in 35s.. THEY WERE AWESOME. flat out.. snow did wicked .. Mud did wicked..
Now the semi good news is there's a tire with the same (very similar tread pattern) as the Duratracs called the trail hog... which is getting some awesome reviews..ill post a link here. Anyone hear of these? they come in 37s for 17" and 18" I will be running 37x12.50r18 myself.

Funny you mention these I literally just left my buddies tire shop and he was telling me about them. Price is great to. I pulled the pin on the KM2's already so I will report back on the snow. We get a ton where we spend the winter. Everyone I talked to said they performed pretty good in snow, and they had siping so......I took a shot. But we will see.

Yeah let me know :)
I wonder if anyone else knows or has tried these trail hogs. I just found out the same falkens I have from factory are available 27x12.50r18. MIGHT give them a shot but they run 36.50 instead of 36.80 which I guess isn’t that huge. It’s a good tire and quiet
