where to begin,... I came out of an establishment and found my caution lights on, I get in, start it up, it is sluggish not quite getting any excelleration. I notice the red battery symbol and it alternates with the double lightning bolt symbol, my power steering is gone and I can drive at best 3 miles an hour. The engine light comes on, I pull over and shut off the car. I try to start the thing and everything lights up but does not start! I get a jump start and still nothing. Waiting for a tow truck now

The battery symbol is charging system issues, but bad batteries aren't very likely at all to take out an alternator without a dead short. Extremely unlikely with AGM. And he's got some power, so not a dead short in a battery.

It could be anything from the high current fuse to a wire or connection issue, whatever.

As many alternators as I've worked on over the decades (hundreds), I've yet to see one taken out by batteries.

If there's a low voltage issue, all other bets are off because these things freak out with low voltage.
Power steering is gone due to low voltage. (and it's also powered by the same high current fuse array that the charging system goes through)

It may be a bad aux battery. I had electrical issues, and my jeep had issues starting and acted funny. I jumped the jeep and drove it to the dealership. They replaced the aux battery and I haven't had an issue since. That was last summer. The aux battery system sucks. AND you can't even change it on your own unless you have better than average knowledge and the tools to do it.

Continuation of my dead jeep, eventually the vehicle got towed to my home for the night, (1:00am) The next day it was towed to the wrong dealership!
In any case, 5 days later, the svc folks fixed the problem,...turns out it was a starter element issue. I will find out for sure what that means when I pick it up today.
My understanding is that Jeep Gladiators have had main battery/aux battery issues, unstable steering, etc. etc. and now starter issues?
