Ok, maybe not THAT big of a deal, but I thought this was pretty cool! I finally got the hinges I needed to swing the cross bars and basket up out of the way for better bed access. It’ll still take some tweaking to get it just right, but you definitely get the idea!

All I have to do is disconnect the rear cross bar and swing the whole thing up and out of the way. It all works because even though the basket and cross bars are by different manufacturers, they’re both made from the same type of aluminum profiles. So everything is flush when it’s down. The hardware is nearly invisible. No wiggle room. ?

Makes it hard to carry something that's taller than the bed.
With just a few more screws, the whole basket lifts off and since it’s flat, it’s easy for one person to maneuver and easy to store. ?

Is that the JCR universal cargo basket? I'm thinking about getting that to install on top of my ARE cap.

Can't even see a basket in that one picture.

EDIT: Ok, looked up the JCR online and now I see it isn't a "basket" using round stock as most baskets are. I like this but other than looking cool I doubt I'd ever truly use it. Still, cool looking

Also, unlike a mid height rack, I can still see out the back when the basket is empty.

How did you get the rolled tonneau forward of the tilted rack (in the first photo?)

The one caveat of this setup. Honestly, it’s doable but not ideal. There are two options…

1. Unbolt both crossbars and lift them as you pass under

or…

2. Unhook at the back and drag it all the way to the front without rolling. Then roll when you reach the front.

Option two actually works to roll up pretty fast after a bit of practice. It’s the unrolling that there’s no great way around. It’s doable but cumbersome.
