Anyone else have this issue? Seems like the coating on the screen is giving out.

This is an old issue in the JL forum. Use glass from day one. Sorry.

So this is still a thing for the antiglare coating? I thought they had fixed it by now.

I guess $10 is good insurance. Maybe that will be my second 'mod'.

What do you use to clean the screen? Should only be a damp, non-abrasive cloth or towel with light soap.

We had this issue come up at work with our +10k radiologist monitors… they were cleaning them with Clorox or other antiviral/antibacterial wipes… it broke down the surface of the screen. We were SOL based on the manufacture cleaning recommendations…

Haven't gone to dealer to show them. But read up from the JL forum it's considered wear and tear etc.. brought a screen protector on Amazon to band aid the issue.

wow, that’s terrible looking and would drive me nuts. I remember the guy from the JL forum that had this issue. I had mine since 2018 and the screen still looked new without any scratches or anything when I sold it. I only ever used a water dampened microfiber and then used a dry microfiber to clean the screen. Although both of my new 8.4 screens have glass screen protectors on it now. Rarely even leaves finger prints now.

I think a guy in the JL forum did….after his screen had finder wear marks all over it.
If I remember correctly, the dealer didn’t want to warranty it because he didn’t use the proper cleaning process, so whatever chemicals he was using was causing the coating to break down.

I was told that the alcohol in hand sanitizer will do this quickly as well. Something to keep in mind. I bought a glass protector from Amazon for like $15 and it works great.

Could be that. All I know is that every device I have had since 2013 has been protected by a glass screen protector from day one, that include vehicle nav screens. It wouldn’t surprise me if that guy in the JL forum used a chemical like that.

Another important reason to use the glass protector is the case where you take your car to be cleaned and the cleaning crew isn’t so gentle with your screen or uses some chemical you don’t know about. Use the glass protection, it’s worth it.
