If you have kept the firmware in your Tazer up to date, you no long have to unmarry and remove the Tazer befoe taking to the dealer, unless you are concerned that your dealer may be a Richard about warranty issues over it. This feature was added maybe a year or so ago.

If you had the opportunity to speak with Joe at ZAutomotive about unmarry ... he would undoubtedly expound on the info you have the blue arrow pointing to and say to you ....

One tidbit to keep in mind.... A major reason why you want to unmarry the Tazer JL before a Dealership Service Department visit.

The Tazer JL doesn't write to the PCM, it writes to the BCM.

When the dealer does a flash update that had a BCM config change to go along with it, well it could/may , when you finally/eventually unmarry, after the dealer did their work...... have the process writing the old value back which undo's what the dealer programmed. Not great....

The truly savvy Tazer JL owner always will unmarry it before the vehicle goes into the Dealership Service Department.

Not unless you tell them! And........ I have a feeling you will!! lol
LOL damn, am I that transparent. I think I would unless they straight asked me. But I'm not on new gears and only slightly higher stock rubicon tires. Was just thinking if there were any logs in the Jeep computer that would say tire size changed. That's the only non live setting I've altered. :D

Agreed..... rather be SAFE than Sorry....In my oppinion - it's always a good idea to go thru all the settings and get yourself familiar with the unit again.

Does the dealer go anywhere near that SGW port? Obviously...if they did, they'll see my dongle.

Question..... I've been asking ZAutotive about the Hood Alarm. When it is triggered, and nobody is there to turn it off, how long does it take before it shuts off and resets itself??
Their response was.... "It would take the same amount of time as when the alarm goes off normally from the door, etc"

Call me confused here... but.... I don't have an alarm system installed on the jeep - only the factory security features. Are they talking about an alarm system (that I do not have) or is there something on the Jeep that I'm not familiar with?

All Gladiators come with a factory installed security system. By default, the hood alarm switch is not active. This will let you open the hood without setting off the alarm. Tazer, Jscan, and AlfaOBD all have an option to activate the hood alarm switch so the alarm will go off if the hood is opened.

They won’t ask and can’t see. I had oil change with Tazer installed

Yes... most all vehicles come with factory installed security systems. That doesn't necessarily mean its an alarm system.

So.... If I have the Tazer installed and the hood alarm is activated. When someone tries to break-in and the alarm goes off...... How long before it shuts off by itself and re-arms itself?

AZ Automotive is telling me, it'll shut off by using the alarm system's timer/timing. So, what exactly is that? I can't find any information about a factory alarm system.

ZAutomotive doesn't provide a separate alarm system, just an option to activate the hood switch. They will refer you to the dealer or manufacturer for information. The question you are asking, about time to reset, likely does not have a published answer, since it would be a security issue.

If you really want to know, activate the hood alarm switch. Go out with a stopwatch, and open the hood to set off the alarm. I'm guessing three to five minutes until automatic reset.

I get it….and I’m totally aware of all that. I’m doing my research. I’d rather do my research before running any tests. Afterall…… Having the horn honk continuously for 5 minutes will drive my neighbors insane (and i don’t want to drain the battery).

Asking my dealership?? 😂 Yea Right…….. The Dealership / Sales guy didn’t know how half the features worked. My husband had to show him how some of them worked!!

I am new to the Tazer and both my wife and I sat in the Jeep looking at the instructions over and over again. I think I am over thinking the whole process. I was able to Marry the Tazer. Played with 1 light show cause I could. Really wanted the license plate lights off in reverse because of the washout so was impressed that happened. I haven't seen the other cool things or figured them out like mapping hot buttons to do cycle through the cameras, the brake hold, and the turn signal camera activation. I do a lot of towing and to be able to cycle cameras is a huge bonus. Also, at night if I could figure out how to turn the camera off when trying to hook up because the screen is too bright and makes it hard to see out of the mirrors. I was blinded trying to see the ground guide. I have a ton more videos to watch to answer my questions and I am sure a ton of emails to write to understand how to use the thing and I am thinking about rewriting the manual because I am older and following that manual was a bit of a chore. I had all the pages printed and stapled and wound up taking the staple out and rummaging through the papers.

FWIW, there is no need to map anything for this. By default with the Tazer installed, you can press the stereo <Mute> button twice and the cameras will pop up on the display.

As for everything else, you just have to play with it a bit. Personally, I have found it easier to just do "one at a time". IAW just pick one and play with it for some period of time until it's muscle memory; then figure out another one. It's not as overwhelming in small bites.

So after reading this thread, and discussing withzautomotive I discovered the issue. Me. I had the lite and not the mini which was the cause of my confusion. Anyhow, $125 less in my wallet and a download key and I am off to the races enjoying this thing!

I have a Tazer mini and have managed to make some changes with it without issue. But once in a while something odd will happen. Yesterday the ESS button reset to the factory on position. Jeep shut off at first stop. It reset to the off position and held it OK. I have also had my AUX switches change settings for no reason but reset OK. No other electronic issues . Is this a thing that they just do?

It's not reported as a common problem, but is to be expected occasionally. Installing a Tazer is like having a hacker in the truck computer. There is a constant struggle for control over some things.

Has anyone figured out to use the navigate while in motion function? I tried but can't get that part to work.
