I'm looking for a tonneau cover and could use some advice before I make a decision. I don't use the truck bed very often, mostly just for grocery runs or the occasional small haul, so I'm looking for something practical and easy to take care of.

After checking out a bunch of forum threads and Amazon reviews, I've found three covers that I like. They're different styles, and I can't decide which one is better.

• Tyger Auto Tri-Fold Soft Cover $221

• RHOBRA Soft Roll-up Cover $149.99
https://www.amazon.com/Roll-up-Tonneau-Compatible-2020-2026-Gladiator/dp/B0FM3RKHCD

• Garvee Soft Roll-Up Cover $125.99

Do you guys usually go with a roll-up or a tri-fold? Which one do you use, and which keeps water out better?

Any tips or experiences with these covers would be really appreciated. Thanks!

I have a trifold and roll-up the trifold is nic because you unclamp to clamps and fold it back if you need more space but you cant open it all the way if you need full bed acces.. The roll-up alows me to roll it back and have full bed acces with ease.

Trifold is what I recommend. If you only use the full bed occasionally. Better protection from the elements. Not full water proof but good enough to get the groceries home without soggy bread. Also will keep honest people honest. Cant see what’s in the bed and a little more harder to open without causing a scene in the parking lot.

I have the Tyger T1 rollup.

The only times I use the entire bed is for carrying all my camping stuff or transporting luggage to/from the airport. Othewise, with a properly cut 2x6 plank through the divider gaps in my bed, the most used space is my rear bed that I can access with just opening the tailgate.

With the T1, I have been able to keep that bed completely dry and sealed from intrusion, even here in Anchorage with snow in the winter and rain in the summer/fall, and its price point is nice and low.

The ONLY time I've gotten water in the bed with the cover on was when I was at a manual car wash with really a really powerful sprayer aimed directly at the velcro attachment points at the top of the bed. Thats it.

Do I want something a little more hardened? Sure, but thats a down the road problem. The T1 rollup has been a good purchase from the jump and is still in great shape and doing its job.

I imagine having it on for at least another year or two.

I had the Tyger T3 tri-fold for 3½ years and eventually went to the T1 rollup. It's just easier to manage, use, and get full access to the bed. You don't know you want full access until you need it, and the only way to get it with the tri-fold is to take it off. After two or three times having that happen, I made the switch and have been much happier.

Both were great covers though. Don't be afraid to get a Tyger. I usually agree with the "you get what you pay for" concept but the Tyger covers seem to be an exception.

Did you see this deal? $700 Rugged Ridge tonneau cover for $129. You can get a roll up cover or tri-fold for that price.

You have to select your vehicle info before the price updates to the sale price.

Here's the rolling cover link, since they only mentioned the folding cover in their post:

I don't know which one is better but I sure like my Tyger and the price was right.

I have ran tri-fold on every truck I have had. I buy hard tri-fold covers now a days vs the soft tri-fold for a little bit add protection. My Gladiator had a roll up on it when I bought it but eventually I feel like the Velcro along the sides gets dirty and doesn't stick to itself as well and then you're the guy driving down the highway with your bed cover flapping in the wind. Don't be that guy.

I went with the BesTop EZ-Roll roll-up - a lil pricy but LUV it. It's tough, made of good materials and all that. A lil under $500 last Spring.

My '22 Willys came with a trifold and I like the security and protection from the elements of it especially when I am working out of it with video gear.
the few times I've needed the full bed I simply pull it off and set it aside - 2 minutes to take it off and maybe 5 to put it back on. Easily lifted on and off by myself.

I just installed Tri fold on my 2025 Rubicon because I had good luck with the Tri fold on my 2020 Overland. I had it for 6 years with no problems. It kept things dry and was easy to fold.

Anybody have any input/opinion on the Rugged Ridge rollup @ $129 vs the Tyger rollup @ about $210?? Is the Rugged Ridge actually better especially considering the big discount?

I used a Lund soft tonneau on two Dodge Dakotas, mostly during the winter as I ran with a rack
during kayaking season. When I bought the Gladiator in 2020 I searched for many weeks before deciding on a WeatherTec Alloy cover, it is a Tri-fold but is available for vehicles with or without the trail-rail system. Snow brushes off easily, is secure but as was mentioned does not fold all the way back (about 5 inches lost I think). No regrets, however if they ever offer the Glad with a longer bed I might consider a roll back semi-soft type. My Lund soft tonneau still lives BTW after over 20 yrs, with one puncture due to hail. Try before you buy, examine quality and assembly or check with other
owners firsthand.
