Ok, so I purchased the MB quart 6x9 adapters and a pair of Morel Maximo Ultra 6x9s. I have the 8.4 with the premium base system in my Gladiator. I have read through everything on this forum and the JL forums to figure out the best way to wire them up. I contacted MB and Crutchfield. Through all this, I'm still getting different answers on what to do.
*Do I cut the tweeter wires and wire them directly to the 3.5 plug?
*The speaker has a capacitor wired to the tweeter wire, do I delete it?
*I read to just use the 3.5 plug and not the 4 inch plug?
Any help from those who have done this conversion with the premium sound package would be greatly appreciated.

Do 6x9's even fit? I recall in another thread someone mentioning after buying 6x9's, the had to get 6x8's for the sound bar upgrade.

6x9 fit, you just need to cut up the opening using the adapter plate as a guide.

I recently did this upgrade using the MB adapter as well amd a pair of JBL 6x9.

I do not have the upgraded alpine system though, so wiring may be different than what I did.

I used the pigtails that come with the MB kit and connected them to the 4" woofer connector in the soundbar, not the smaller tweeter connector. The tweeter connector I just taped up so it wouldn't rattle around.

I did stuff the bar with poly fill and used dynamat as well.

I would leave the filter in as you should be getting the full range input and you would damage the tweeter without the high pass filter.

I did everything with the sound bar in the truck, but from what I have seen it would probably be easier to remove the bar and do it on a bench.

Hope this helps. I don't know if there is any wiring differences between the alpine and non alpine systems. I know the speakers are the same, the alpine just gets a sub I think.

I have the 8.4 and alpine system. Just did this with a paid of JL C1 6x9's a few weeks ago. I used the adapter crutchfield sent that plugged into the 3.5 speaker wire. They sound OK, I'm going to add a Kicker 50x4 DSP amp to run the soundbar and the knee speakers. I am putting in JL C2 6.5" there and will leave the JL C2 3.5 in the dash will be the only speakers run off the OEM alpine amp.

I'm pretty dissapointed in the alpine system. Ended up building a box for two shallow 10's to fit behind the backseat. There's so much filtering happening with the OEM system. I used the PAC adapter to run 3 pairs of RCA cables for the amps and that gets a much cleaner signal.

TLDR: you may hear some more brights but dont expect a booming system by just changing the speakers.

So you are saying you only plugged in the 3.5 plug to the speaker? I'm thinking to get both highs and lows you would have to seperate the tweeter wires, plug into the 3.5 plug, then plug the 4 inch plug into the woofer. From what I have read, the 3.5 is programmed through the crossover for highs, so very little bass will be coming through.

I thought the same about how the crossovers happen on the OEM processors but since I'm planning on running these and the knee speakers off an external amp soon enough, I just plugged them in via the hardness that crutchfield sent me instead of hacking up the speakers only to change them again in a few weeks.
