so I am trying to install some aftermarket LED DRL/turn signals into my 22 Rubi. I got the kind that say they are for the Rubi (wider fenders?). I searched for some videos, and the best I think I found was from RECON, but I am still struggling with a few things.

Problem one - the fastener that attaches to the outer trim piece are new to me. In the video he uses a punch type tool to quickly pop out the center pin. I tried that and am 99% sure I destroyed the fastener. What is the proper procedure?

Problem two - in the video he is installing onto an already LED-equipped vehicle with the harness plug by the light module...of course mine doesn't look like that. I tried tracing the plug wiring...and it goes way back! Where does it terminate? I am guessing I need to remove the entire inner fender?

Problem three - these came with resistors, but I read that 2021 and up do not need the resistors...will having the resistors create any problem other than unnecessary heat?

My experience covers a couple items. When I pulled the fenders I did not need to remove the outermost fender trim(plastic pop rivet). When I replaced the bulbs only this was able to be done by pulling back the inner fender panel. Did not remove fender or trim. I have pulled the fenders and the turn signal/DRL harness has a connection midway and at the top where the fender attaches to the body. There are several videos covering this. Take a look at a different one. Good luck.

The easiest way is to remove the inner fender and fender. You will need to remove the inner 3/4 of the way and pull the front of the fender away from the body at the very least. That's what I did and I think removing the fender entirely would of been easier. Buy a plastic rivet kit from Harbor Freight or Amazon to replace the ones you will be removing and get some fender clips from Quadratec to replace the ones that will break when you pull the fender. The lights I bought needed resistors even after changing to LED with a Tazer, your lights may be different.
