Not sure if this is the right place for this post. I have a 2021 Gladiaror, and it started making a ticking noise, I took it in and the mechanic said he couldn’t hear anything. So, I thought I was just hearing things. Fast forward several weeks, and now the noise is much louder. Took it in, said rod knock, needs a new engine under warranty. Mechanic said it was rare for a 2021, so has anyone had something similar happen? Thanks.

If it's a rod knock, that IS rare.

There are dozens of threads, hundreds of posts, about engine noises - almost all of them are cam issues.

I say - especially if under warranty - let 'em!

The bottom ends on these engines are pretty bullet-proof.

The intake cams on the right bank, not so much.

If I had any vehicle with an engine noise and they told me "we'll replace the ENGINE under warranty" I'd be making the appointment.

My 2021 developed a ticking noise that quickly got worse - and was later diagnosed as bottom end knock. The dealership installed a new long block at ~96,000 miles, but it was all covered under (extended) warranty.

I had expected cam/followers to be the issue, so that was a bit of a surprise.

Love the color of your Jeep... Thanks for the info. Waiting to hear from dealer as to what it ends up being, but it sounds similar to what you experienced.

Oooh yes, free engine is always a good thing. Post some videos of the new engine once installed ;) And yes, rod knock is rare on a new engine, I had both rocker arm lifters and cam knocks on my JKU but that was after 56k miles. Cost me over 3k for dealership repair :(
