Well, that was fast… test drove a few Gladiators yesterday and couldn’t pass up the deal they were offering on this 2024 Willy’s. I’m a little nervous about trading in my 2020 JLUR, but I still had a good bit of equity and I’ve always peeked at the Gladiators. Hopefully, I’ll love the Willy’s edition just as much.
A couple of questions, I was used to the 4.10 gears in my Rubicon (with the 2.0T) … I had about a 2.5 lift with 35s…I now have 3.73 gears. I would like the same height as I had… so will a 2.5 - 3 inch lift with 35s be too much for a stock Willy’s? I know I’ll have to get used to the more “sluggish” V6 as it is now. I do like the way it sounds after driving that 2.0 for 5 years… never got used to that oversized sewing machine sound lol.
Also, it came with the Cargo Trail Rail system group… what have y’all lined the bed of the truck with?
Any other advice for a first time Willy’s and Gladiator owner? I’m in FL and don’t plan on ever doing hardcore rock climbing… just a lot of beach, trails and mud.
Looking forward to seeing y’all’s suggestions!

Congrats. That WAS quick! The red looks get too from a fellow firecracker red owner ;)

I’ll leave the gearing question to others as I already have 4.10 gears so can’t relate to the 3.73’s. The one thing I will say is with 4.10’s and the stock 33’s things feel lively off the line.
I lined my bed with a rubber mat from rough country. Enough for me to keep the floor from getting banged up and not slippery.

Welcome and congratulations. Running a 2.5" lift with 35s will not be an issue with the 3.73 gears, IMO.
I know many will say you "have to regear", but I say not necessarily.
I had a similar set up when I bought mine and didn't notice any issues with the engine's
performance.
I currently have 37s on it now and still have no complaints, especially using it primarily as a daily driver which sounds like what you will be using your as.
We recently took a road trip from Nebraska to San Diego and it ran great both ways. I got 17 mpg in the way out and 14.5 on the way back due to the crazy headwinds we encountered all the way back.
Love the color too. I suggest putting the lift and tires on and see what you think. Enjoy!!

Congrats! Beautiful truck!

IMO, Leave it stock for a while and roll it. If you need or gotta have the bigger tires, put the lift and tires on and see how she rolls before swapping gears.

As for the bed liner, I always used to have the Line-X installed on my brand new trucks. But before they spray it in, they sand it down and scratch it up for adhesion.

So, with my 2021 JTM, I didn't Line X the bed at all. Once it gets scratched up to the point that I care I will Line X it. LOL. I have the trail rail dealio. I would suggest that they mask it off.

Nice looking Gladiator!

Welcome and congrats. My ‘23 Willy’s came with 3.73 gears. I swapped them out to 4.56 as I was hardly ever using 8th and it would drop down to 6th all the time. This is with 285/75/17’. I’ll be set when if I do decide to go to 35s but this fear set is great for what I do on my daily commutes. I also line-x the bed

Congrats on the new Willys! I have a '24 Willys with a 2.5 in. Lift and 35s and theyre heavy 35s. I can definitely tell a difference and wind really affects it but overall it's ok so far.
I have learned though that air pressure in the tires really affects the shifting. I have to run 30-32 lbs cold or the transmission will not shift properly.

It can void warranty on anything that fails as a result of the lift.

Driveshaft failure could be blamed on the increased angle from a lift.

Paint bubbling, for example, would still be covered under warranty because there is no way to link it to the lift causing it.

Thanks - is that probably the same case with Re-gearing?

The lift kit raises the Jeep up closer to the sun, causing paint bubbles……..
