I hate to be the debbie downer after all these comments, but that's just asking for corrosion. If that metal ends up rubbing into the paint. You will end up corroding the aluminum. That would piss me off. ?

I would want to remove the lights then prime and paint the insides.

Did you add that plastic edging around the rim or did they come with it?

Some places would want you to add some reflectors. Not a bad idea on the side at least as long as the back bumper also has reflectors.

The lights can be swapped for DOT if necessary. And it looks like there is some other standard for truck trailer lights, which these are.

I went the Oracle route and am very happy but these have a good basic look, just seems like needs more time on prep before paint and perhaps the side light instead of being flushed the way it is might look better surface mounted, I agree that the inside needs powder or paint, might need a side reflector also or a combination larger light with reflector. You spent the money already and it looks a lot better then I could have done in my garage, perhaps play with them and get them to where you want……Jack

I would return those. I’m not even a good fabricator and I could make those to the same quality with some scrap steel and some trailer parts.

I like my LED tail lights though, so I’m not in the market.

Went with the Oracle’s slim line for about $100 more. And couldn’t be happier. Steel is an interesting option - but unless using a thin gauge and bending it - I think welds are always going to have imperfections. Probably why powder coating would be best option.
