What do all the jeep abbreviations stand for ? Example: JL, CJ , .......... What is the gladiator ? Sorry to sound so dumb but I am new to the jeep world. Thanks for any feedback.

They are the model codes for the different Jeeps:

The Gladiator is "JT", which may or may not mean "Jeep Truck". Not all model codes are abbreviations, but enthusiasts tend to assign them (Civilian Jeep, Yuppie Jeep, Trendy Jeep, Long Jeep, etc.).

jeep identifies their models/body styles with alphabetic codes called model designation codes. Gladiator’s code is JT. Here’s a wiki. Welcome to the habit.

They aren't abbreviations. They are chassis codes for different models of Jeep Vehicles.

JT 2020+ Gladiator
SJ 1963 - 1971 Gladiator

JL late 2018+ Wrangler
JLU late 2018+ 4 Door Wrangler
JK 2007 - early 2018 Wrangler
JKU 2007 - early 2018 Wrangler
TJ 1997 - 2006 Wrangler
LJ 2003 - 2006 extended wheel base Wrangler
YJ 1987- 1996 Wrangler
CJ8 1981 - 1986 Scrambler
CJ7 1976 - 1983 Civilian Jeep (okay this one stood for something)
CJ5 1955 - 1983 Civilian Jeep (okay this one stood for something)

There are codes like this for all the other Jeep product lines, I only included the Wrangler/Gladiator ones. People also often stick an R after the code to make themselves feel special for buying a Rubicon version, but that isn't an official Jeep designation. People also like to make up meanings for these codes like saying YJ is Yuppie Jeep.

The CJ is the one I was referring to when I said "not all model codes are abbreviations".
