Guys...forgive my newb questions. I have found two JT's that I really like. One is new. The Other has 46K on the clock. I've noticed many JT's used with close to 50K. Would you buy new or used if the truck had all options you wanted? These are both Mojave trims. Is there a problem with these as they approach 50K miles? Thanks for any replies!

If you post links to them we can maybe give you a better idea. Without them, I will tell you that the factory warranty only goes to 36,000 miles on the Mojave. You may want to consider getting an extended warranty if you purchase the used model and I am sure that when you factor total cost of used + warranty vs the savings you get over the new model would put them close in price…. on top of that you also want to consider what it means to you to have a vehicle you’re the original owner of vs used when you are dropping over $40,000.

I fell in love with the JT after thinking they were hideous when I was my first lifted one. Up to that point all of my vehicles were under $25k and used. I knew if I was spending $50k+ it would be new and exactly what I wanted.

If the price was right, I’d consider used. It wasn’t when I was in the market, so I went new.

As stated above…at that mileage…you’re talking no warranty, so you’d have to be content with that and the price.

At that mileage…maybe off lease or the owner just wanted something new.

I bought mine configured exactly as I wanted with 8K miles on the odometer. It was immaculate inside and out and you couldn’t tell the difference between it and one on the showroom floor aside from a broken visor which is very common among gladiators.

46k isn’t that much mileage. I would however inspect the undercarriage very closely to see if it’s been ridden hard off road. How does the interior look? If it’s been well cared for chances are the rest of the vehicle has been as well. In my experience, people who trash the inside of the vehicle aren’t very concerned with basic maintenance.

Thanks Jefe...that makes sense. Thanks guys for the response. Checking the undercarriage...did'nt think of that...great idea. The only difference is the used one has adaptive cruise which the more I'm thinking about it I can probably live without. I do love it in my Ram 3500 though.

You'll have to factor in 2 different maintenances for a Mojave around 50k mile

1. Fox shocks might be due for a rebuild
2. Front end components (bushings, tie rod ends, even ball joints) might be due for replacement If you don't want death wobble

When I went looking a couple of months ago, there were lots of used JT's in the $40-50k range available. Plenty that had from 2k miles to 20k miles on them. I did find that kinda strange. But my goal was to find a good used one. A bunch of the used ones were sports, willy's, overlands, etc.. I wanted a rubicon or possibly a Mojave. So when push came to shove and I was ready to pull the trigger, it really was not much more expensive to buy new. The used JT's REALLY hold their value.

Do your due diligence, and figure out EXACTLY what you want in your JT, then price em out. After I did that, new was the answer. But I bought a 2022 that they were trying to blow out. Might be a little different now. The 2022's seem to be mostly gone.

Good luck! Even with a price tag that make me break out in a cold sweat, it's been a fantastic journey....

That used one is a nice looking truck but price seems awfully high for the mileage. You could get a new one for not much more, unless they’re willing to negotiate that down considerably. . . Just my opinion.

Edited to add that they both seem overpriced. Just looked at the new one.

I agree..and not happy at what appear to be 20" rims. I think I like the new one better even though no adaptive cruise.
