ATW 3a are a good tire, but with limited slip you can’t power through a turn. Make sure traction control is on (some with tazers turn it off and it will stay off).

the absolutely hands down best tire for snow and rain is the BFG AT KO2.

I just drove 600 miles yesterday in the rain the entire drive through Louisville, Indianapolis Nd Chicago with a 3.5” new Rubicon Express lift (absolutely incredible ride for a DD for the money) 37” BFG KO2s at 36 psi on stock Wrangler Rubicon 17x7.5 rims and the Jeep handled perfectly. I am seriously very surprised at how stable and smooth the Rubicon Express lift is, I’ve had BFG AT KO2s for many vehicles and they do not slip in the rain. I have a tazer and 4:10 gear ratio with plenty of power to cruise 75 mph or more if I wanted to. Yesterday in the rain I was constantly aware of how well the truck handled the rain often the rain was heavy at times and I went through a lot of uneven construction road surfaces.

this set up is really awesome!

Would the taller tires allow for more slippage before it engages the LSD?
I'm not sure on that question, but the taller tires will be wider, which will negatively impact the wet handling further.

BFG manufacturer’s tech specs say the minimum wheel width requirement for a 17 inch wheel for their BFG 37x12.50R17 KO2 A/T is 8.5 inches (8.5 - 11 inches, min/max). Did your tire dealer say anything about mounting your tire on a 7.5 inch rim? Most of the big tire shops will adamantly refuse to mount a tire on a rim that’s not within the tire manufacturer’s minimum specs.

One of the reasons I just took the wildpeaks off was that they were never good in rain and got worse as they wore. and noisy, my god the noise.

Nice. Im in Lake Stevens. I dont drive the gladiator much though. I have a company rig.
Well, if you ever see a String Gray Willys rolling down HWY9 that might be me heading up to Marysville to visit friends. Haven't seen to many around, Gladiators that is, so we should be easy to spot. Have a good weekend! Suppose to be nice and sunny so no rain for Halloween.

Funny you should say that, the spare I have is quadratec’s 17x8.5x17 with 5.2”es of bs. They only had one wheel available to ship. Their back order is late November for other 4. So I’m using 17x7.5’s for running wheels and I will add 1.5” spacers Monday for looks only. This set up doesn’t rub with wider max tow axles. Discount tire said that a 35x12.50 could not be mounted on the wheel but a 37x12.50 can be. He surmised the reason was more sidewall on the 37’s. That came off of their computer when he typed it in. Trust me these guys are sticklers about specs and I had a hell of a time getting hem to mount 20x10 squared up rims on my Mustang GT. They said hey wouldn’t fit, but I bought the Mustang with 22 x9’s and they relented after seeing those that fit with no rubbing.

I have run 12.50’s on 7.5” rims on many vehicles for lots of miles on and off road even aired down to 15 lbs (35x12.5x15 on 15x7.5” rim) without issues… but I am aware of my set up and don’t get crazy.

so, November the JT will have Quadratec aftermarket copies with 17x8.5” diameter and 5.2”es of back spacing) I’ll sell the stickers JR put them on a street tired 32x12.5x17 jeep Hemi GC.

All you people who think SelecTrac (Full time 4wd) is pointless. This is a perfect example of when it is useful. Accelerating around a corner in the wet at low speed. (when the engine can put more torque to the rear wheels)

I hope you are also running the standard Jeep offset of +12?

You can always put it into 2H.

A friend of mine with a JK unlimited has his Jeep at Motech in Vegas getting LT1 conversion. Its a sport and came with itty bitty tires on steel wheels. I suggested to him that we turn them into clouds of smoke when he gets it back. 460 hp. Awesome.

Any weight in the bed?
You say it’s cooler too, wet cool roads have a lower adhesion point.
As mentioned, traction control on or off?

Yeah, I know you can....... owned many Jeeps with similar system and my Chevy had that "automatic full-time 4 wheel drive" mode.

I was having fun.............. Jeeps smoking tires in the staging area - love to see it.

oh I know. Its useless but a burnout is always fun.

In 2004, I bought one of the first Subaru STi's. 300 hp stock, which was a lot back then. You could open the center diff at which point the AWD system put 70% of the torque to the rear wheels. It was so much fun to do donuts with. Ha.

LOL, Discount tire @Discount Tire is wrong, rims width is 8.5-11" it also pretty comical how many times it has been repeated on here.
