So I may sound like an old person complaining about a new age thing, but is anyone else annoyed by people placing these ducks on their vehicle? I am an "old school jeeper" I guess. I bought my first Jeep(88YJ) the day I turned 15(25ish years ago) and have the old school mentality I guess of you don't touch someone's vehicle if you don't know them. And I know the Jeep duck stuff is a newer phenomenon started by a mom in Canada or what ever the back story is. Honestly I don't see how some of these people I see coming down the road can even see due to the reflections stretching all the way across their dash.

Other than getting on here to rant about how I don't believe people should touch your vehicle let alone leave something on it, is there a way other than having no ducks on my dash to let these people know not to leave these on my truck? When they do its just going to the trash or my dog.

And yes I am sure I am going to upset some of you with my opinion on this but it is what it is. Some of you love this new sort of "jeep thing" but I am sure there are others that also cant stand it. I just really want to know how to avoid getting these left on my truck.

Thanks for any helpful advice and for listening to my rant.
Post a large sign on your Jeep warning everyone that you have no sense of humor and are a cranky old bastard. That should take care of it.

The thing is, it’s become just another popularity contest like how many facebook or Instagram friends one has. To each their own, but it‘s not for me. My good dog in the back seat is enough for me.

Wow…I’m late to the party….🤗

I’m not a ‘new‘ jeeper - we’ve had a few different jeeps (2 YJ’s & ZJ) over the years. I love the ducks!! …… I love the idea of ‘discretely’ making people smile. ☺
Over the holidays, I’ll secretly pay it forward or I’ll give out $20 bills towards folks in line behind me— then I’ll vanish. It’s just something I enjoy doing……and it makes a mundane run for errands more fun!
Can’t do that with my previous truck…. That boring truck it was…..😂

Is it mostly women / girls who love doing it??? Do most guys poo-poo it? Is it older versus younger? We need to start a poll…….I’m 56.
I get *eye rolls* from my husband everytime I want to duck a jeep. 🙄 However - there are days he’ll point out…Hey, there’s a jeep over there, are you gonna duck it?? He will only allow me to keep 2 ducks on my dash… so no duck pond for me - and I’m OK with that.

If you dislike it….. and you get ducked…. Take that duck and put it on another vehicle next to you or somewhere else. That’s easy to do and doesn’t matter if its a jeep or not. Just pass it along.

In 2018, my son helped his son buy a 2011 Wrangler.
After he totaled it a year later he "inherited"
a 2002 Yukon the same age he was to replace it.
He said that he missed being in "the community".

In December of '22,
my daughter bought a 2016 Rubicon Hard Rock.
Once they were ducked and found out about it,
her children loved ducking other Wranglers.
They are the next generation of Jeep enthusiasts.

In 2014, I bought a 1998 Wrangler Sahara.
It was not until 2022 that I was ducked.
The duck was tagged with the name
of the local jeep club on facebook.
I joined facebook and have become a regular
at the weekly club restaurant gatherings.
Had I not been ducked, I would never have known.
Grateful am I for the kindness of a stranger
that I may never be able to thank.

Ducking has become part of building "the community".
I for one, traded my 2009 Tacoma in 2023
to add a 2021 Gladiator to the stable
in large part because of "the community".

Most brands can only dream of achieving
that level of customer fellowship and loyalty.

I personally don't like the ducks at all and wish it would go away. That said, whatever; do you.

It's like the folks who buy the standard poser gear- Warn winch, KC pods above the roof light bar, rockslide powered steps, King shocks, Nitto Tires, a personalized "name" on the hood, and the key ingredient-- not a single iota of evidence the vehicle has ever left pavement. I don't "get" why people do that, but it's insanely common.

But people can spend their money and do whatever they want. I don't know what the Jeep "brand" is going for, but this isn't something that makes me want another Jeep. In fact, the opposite is true. I don't truly care what people do with their own vehicles, but seeing it makes me eye roll and I don't want to be associated with duck people. It's the same way I would never buy a Tesla, as they attract the crowd of people that have idiotic personalized license plates like "LOL0GAS" and the like.

I've never been ducked, or ducked anyone for that matter. I have been thinking about shipping in a crate of them from China for my kids to have fun giving out. I'm definitely doing it now. If only to teach the little guys the essential life lesson if one of you gets butthurt because they aren't observing the unwritten rules of "car culture"... that in this world some people are just fucking retards.

First duck, I was at a campground and there was another gladiator there. He comes by walking his dog while we're out drinking by the fire.
Says "knock knock, sorry to bother you" hands me a duck and says he likes my jeep. Now this I can get behind. A friendly hello, quick chat, nobody touched anybody else's truck. My kids got a new bath toy. Wins all around

Second duck, just left on my door handle at a hardware store parking lot. There are none on my dash. Not mad or annoyed but it's just weird to me, almost creepy in a way. Almost stalker-ish. I know it's harmless but generally I'd rather not.

Jeep wave I'm all for it. I'll wave every time. Sometimes have to catch myself from waving when I'm driving my wife's atlas lol

I’m also old school and prefer not to have people touch my vehicle, however, I absolutely made a young woman’s day when I gave it to her. She was almost in tears because her jeep was just stock and she always wanted someone to give it to her. Since that day, I don’t mind as much as long as I can bring joy to someone else even for a moment.

My wife saw this while out shopping. That big one took me out 😂😂😂

I have two in my dash - one was a gift from a friend and the other was from someone that I’m certain saw me walking with my wife in her wedding gown right after our ceremony.

I like having two. I learned that three was a bit much so I gave it away.
