Admit one’s mistakes.
In an attempt to delete my Start/Stop Auxiliary Battery I killed my Gladiator….
Open the door…. nothing… dead… black… dormant… asleep… you get it… I’m sick.
I read up on the problems the aux battery poses. I constantly had the start/stop inop notification. I decided to delete the aux battery.
I pulled F42 fuse.
Removed the right front tire.
pulled back the fender well to expose the aux battery case.
Removed the three bolts that hold the case in place and pulled down the case reviling the aux battery.
I disconnected the aux batt negative cable followed by the aux batt positive cable… being careful to not let them touch… so I thought.
In retrospect, I should have disconnected the main battery negative cables.
Unfortunately for me, because I wasn’t following basic precautions, the aux battery negative cable dropped down and struck the positive aux battery cable.
Wasn’t a large shower of sparks but a glancing blow that was short lived.
Apparently that was enough to blow a fuse in the
Jeep Gladiator Z Case Fuse Array Part # 68368853AA

I’m assuming when I replace the fuse array, power will be restored to the PCM and the Jeep in general…. I hope.
Lesson learned, I hope my ignorance will prevents this happening to someone else.
Happy Jeeping.
