No TPMS, any Problem?

Post June 21 builds TPMS sensors are impossible to find. Is there any issue running wheels with standard valve stems in them other than having the TPMS warming light constantly on? Anyone just swap wheels and forego the TPMS system and just use an old school tire pressure guage every now and then to check pressure?

There is no issue at all other than the liability you are assuming by removing the TPMS.

Are you trying to swap to a new set of wheels or just replacing a bad sensor? If you're swapping wheels just buy new stems and install them on the old sensors.

New wheels and tires came already mounted and balanced. Would have to dismount my factory tires plus the new ones to swap stems and sensors then rebalance all 10. A huge pita and added cost, plus the factory wheels are worth a good bit less once you remove the sensors since everyone seemingly cannot or will not roll without them. This is my first vehicle that has TPMS and for me it doesn’t seem like a big deal. Wondering what I am missing.

I swapped in a set of wheels and tires from my JL not knowing that the TPMS sensors would not work. Sold stock wheels with sensors so just running no TPMS and turned off light with Tazer.

It’s a pretty easy swap and tire shops are accustomed to doing it. They only have to break the top bead and a full rebalance isn’t usually necessary. Most will include the TPMS swap into the price of the mount and balance labor for the new wheels and tires.

No issues running without them other than the annoying ding. Just get into a regular habit of checking them. I got a Tazer, problem solved.

They aren't really worth that much less, IMO. Unless the prices have dropped a lot lately. If they are going for less it's more likely because the market if flooded with take-offs.

And any tire dealer that knowingly supplies tires and wheels e without TPMS sensors to a customer for a vehicle that has TMPS may be, according to the NHTSA, violating the law -

Scenario 2: If a customer purchased aftermarket performance tires and wheels and the customer refused to purchase new TPMS sensors or pay for the labor to transfer the original sensors to the aftermarket wheels, what would happen?

NHTSA responded that if the TPMS is functioning at the time of the aftermarket tire and wheel purchase, “a service provider would violate the ‘make inoperative’ prohibition of 49 USC 30122(b) by installing new tires and wheels that do not have a functioning TPMS system. To avoid a “make inoperative” violation, the service provider “would need to decline to install the new tires and rims, use the TPMS sensors from the original wheels (if they are compatible), or convince the motorist to purchase new TPMS sensors and ensure that the sensors are properly integrated with the vehicle’s TPMS system.

If there's an accident and it's found tires are involved and it can be traced back to the tire dealer......... odds are long, I know, but..........
It hinges on the "make inoperative" provision of the law that requires all passenger vehicles, light trucks, etc. to have TMPS since the 2007 model year if I recall the year correctly.

In WV, TPMS must be functioning properly to pass inspection. Other states may have similar laws.

I bought these figuring any shop around me would put them in but am finding that only the dealer is willing. I’m waiting to take my rubicon take-offs off after the winter to have the dealer install.
