Another victim to my JT Mojave dying due to dead batteries. Dealer replaced both 6 months ago. Lo and behold same thing happened to me 2 weeks ago. Batteries were under warranty and they even replaced the IBS. Had my wife pick up the Jeep and drive it home from the dealer. When she got home she told me the XM radio was not working. Upon further inspection I noticed the Navigation wasn’t working either. Both had the icons on the screen but it won’t let me select either.

Reading through the forums I saw that it can take a few days to reset but no mention of XM not working. 72 hours and a few drive cycles later and no change. I went on vacation for a week and came back yesterday to the same situation. I pulled fuse #97 while the Jeep was running. Waited 10 minutes and put it back in to reset the Uconnect. No change.

Do I need to wait a few more drive cycles? Trying to avoid taking it back to the dealer. Any help would be appreciated.

When I got my replacement radio, it took about 24 hrs to it all back working. Just be sure to leave it outside and not parked in the garage. Seems like 72hrs would be enough time. The reason for my radio replacement was for a failed update by the dealer. It caused my nav to get " lost",. It had no idea where the Jeep was.

Another thought is, you can call xm, and ask them to send an update to your radio. Once they send the update, they say it takes 24hrs, but my update took less than an hour. Tell them you can see the icon but it is not working. My situation was a bit different. I had the icon, but I had someone else's setup on my radio. They terminated that setup that left me with just the icon. I was getting a call xm message to subscribe, until the new update loaded.

I gave it a try. Had XM resend 3 refresh signal. No luck. Called dealer and they recommended the same thing. They told me to give it another 48 hours. If no change then I have to bring it back in.

I even put it in dealer mode and messed around with the settings. I don’t know what they did but I don’t see this issue fixing itself.

Thanks for the tip.

That is no fun. Fuse 97 you also tried. How long was it out? Could you try leaving it out a little longer? I didn't have luck with an update from the dealer. A replacement radio corrected the issues of xm and navigation. Actually the update is what messed up the xm and the nav. I was told it wouldn't take the second update so they replaced it.

Had it out for 10 minutes. Will try it longer tomorrow. Just makes no sense. Simple battery replacements and the IBS. Weird.

10 minutes is probably long enough. I'd hate to start your clock over to see if it comes back working.

I know on other FCA vehicles with older 8.4 style radios, they had a "Engineering Menu" that could be accessed to factory reset the radio. From my research, the JT/JL 8.4 radios only allow "Dealer Mode/Menu" access but there is not a factory reset option in there.

I have a feeling that unless the dealership has some secret squirrel access with maybe their WiTech tool to get to the Engineering Menu, the radio may need to be replaced or sent back for a reset.

That's my concern. I put it in dealer mode but you really have no options to do any type of reset. Hopefully they can maybe install a map update or something?

Batteries were under warranty and they even replaced the IBS.
They could easily see a charge-back for the IBS if it didn't throw a code and they couldn't show the diagnostics behind their reasoning.
Not that I'm not all for them doing that to cover all bases -but, it's not a common thing and they are self-diagnostic, not to mention even I can see what the IBS is doing and thinking with JSCAN or similar..

24 should be plenty.
It was interesting to note that the NAV on my wife's 2018 WK2 stopped working about the time the batteries went south. Dealer replaced both batteries (1 month left of the 3 year warranty) but the radio was still goofy. So she got a replacement radio (then a month later traded it for a 2021)
Similar for my son's Compass.
I can't imagine a battery issue causing a radio issue - but the spirits and Ouija board all lined up that way.

Found him............

Dealer took apart radio this morning to make sure everything was connected properly. They didn’t find any issues and they had no solution Except to replace radio. Told me to call Jeep.

Reached out to @JeepCares and they opened a case. Of course I’m out of warranty. They are opening up a Goodwill request. Dealer has to send them the diagnosis and potential cost of replacing the radio. Should hear back by the end of next week. Un real. I have no confidence that they will do the right thing and cover it asthis issue occurred through no fault of my own. ????
