Dealer called and said they are not just replacing the axel seals anymore, they are replacing the axel tube as well.

Are we looking at an oil leak here? Right rear hub leak? Tell us a little more plz. It’s been my understanding that they never did, or could, just replace the seal. Full axels were being replaced for a leak.

Yes that is the passenger rear seal leaking. I'm not sure, he just said they don't replace just the seal anymore. They may have been replacing the whole axel.

They've never just replaced the seal.
It's labor intensive, they still have to use new bearings, and the fault for a long time was unknown, so replace assemblies. Faster, cheaper in the end, and less risk.

It's pretty much always been the right side axle, and I've yet to see any dealership replace just the seal, especially for a warranty case.

My passenger side rear axle is leaking and they told me they will replace under warranty. As for if they replace the entire axle or just the seal my dealership told me it depends on what parts are available. I believe I’m getting the axle shaft replaced but not the whole axle. Photo is the difference between the right and left inside of the wheel. If it looks like this you have a leak. Lol
