One can look at a study like that a couple of different ways. The risk takers were always more than likely going to be the more active people anyways. Healthy Lifestyle and active people in their teens and 20's will also usually show previously misdiagnosed or missed genetic health defect and succumb to them quicker were as the other group would age a bit further with the same conditions.

It would be interesting to see what that data would show once people aged into their 30's and further? I think the healthier lifestyle crowd would then show better life expectancy numbers overall.
The healthy people die healthy.

Had a neighbor who ran every day. Died from natural causes at the age of 52. So his wife said.

Everybody can point to some odd ball example like the family member that lived to 102 drinking a shot of whiskey and smoking a pack of Lucky Strikes everyday. Does not mean either of our examples is a point of predestination and it does not matter how one lives their life.

Worked with one of those. He smoked with high BP but said the same thing "Everyone lived ..." So he went to the crapper at work one day and took a shit. Blew a bleeder in his brain and the last time I saw him was when they loaded him on the bus.

I was a teenager in the early 1980's and there was famous at the time runner named Jim Fixx. He was the poster child for fitness and running at the time and suddenly died at the age of 52. A lot of people then made fun of the fact that being fit did not seem to help him live long but it also ignored the fact he was until the age of 36 a two pack a day smoker, over weight and discovered after his death to have a congenital enlarged heart from birth.

Oh I remember him well. He was the butt of so many jokes after his death but there are few who knew of his health(?) background. If I remember correctly ole Jim made videos too (it was the 80's).

Had a great uncle who went to 109. Lived on a farm outside of Morgantown WV. His daughters said that he should have died in his 80's. Because the older he got. The meaner he got. Said that god wasn't ready for him yet. Left him here to torture everyone.

I believe that everyone has an expiration date in their genes. But with modern medicine. They can extend it.
