Cool. You have the part number for auto headlamp sun sensor?
Sun Sensor = 68230114AB Light load sensor for HVAC and Auto Headlights Avoid 68230115AB which is HVAC only.

Headlight Switch = 68542459AA is the one with the auto setting, Avoid 68542460AA it is the one without you already have.

enabled JScan -> Adaptation -> Auto Headlamp & Auto High Beam - Settings -> Auto Headlamp Feature Present On/Off, - Target Value = Active.

enable JSCAN -> Modules -> Body Controller -> Configuration -> Headlamp on with wiper customer settings menu -> Set
(not sure if actually needed but go ahead and turn it on so you can on/off it from the Radio rather than have to jump through JSCAN Menus)

Wow. Could you make a write up of this. Was it hard ? Did the screen have to come out ? Can you post some photos?
No it's not hard, it requires no dash removal other than the blank cap where the light sensor goes, which can be removed with a black stick sprudger, just work around the edge, and it pops right out, disconnect wire and plug in your light sensor and stick it in the hole.

https://www.amazon.com/Universal-Spudger-Opening-Tablets-MacBook/dp/B01DGNCNR0?th=1

And the headlight switch itself, which I used a black stick spruger to get under it and put a large trim spuger under it as I work around it to pop the face plate off, then repeated the process for the switch itself. Slide the red clip back and push down to remove, plug in the new one and you're done with the hardware.

I do not think you can readily add the auto headlamps function to a vehicle without it. The sun load sensor for the auto headlamps goes through the HVAC controller only on the Auto AC systems that is in the Convenience Group package or higher trims with it. If you have the lower trim package manual AC single zone HVAC controller, it is not setup to handle the sun load sensor function if it is even wired for it at all.

FWIW, there is a thread on the JL side DIY section for adding the sun sensor and AUTO HVAC controller but it was written before the 2024 and up dash upgrade so it may not be 100% applicable.

That might be true for 2023 and older. I have a 2025 just popped my cap and there is wiring running to it.

If you compare it to the diagram it is also the the correct wires so it should work no problem :), Just make sure to get the correct sensor, they look identical and are only 1 digit difference in part number but only 1 will work correctly for Auto Headlamps :)

It appears that for 2024 and up adding auto headlights is basically plug and play. The correct sun sensor and AUTO headlight switch with a little programing .

Got in my salvage pull sun load sensor and Auto Headlamp Switch assembly and installed them this afternoon and enable with Jscan. Works as advertised. Into it for about $90.

Thanks again to @webduelist for tracking this down and figuring it out.

I probably would have paid that if I had too. When I went to search for the parts, I scoured Ebay and found the sensor and it was pulled from a Maserati and found the one listing for the switch unit and made an offer that they accepted.

Yes, if you just follow the menu steps I laid out you can't miss.

JSCAN messes with the vehicles config which is the equivalent to Windows System Registry, you can really mess stuff up if you just flip settings on without knowing what they do, but since I have already identified the settings, values, and menu structure to get to them it should be a slam dunk, PM me if you have any problems.

Well, not a mod I was looking to do in the near future, but after slipping off my rock rail and karate kicking the headlight bezel looks like now is the near future. Picking up that parts tomorrow...maybe auto brights will be worth the $160 bucks and huge bruise on my knee.

Did you read this? This is the JSCAN process -

Sun Sensor = 68230114AB Light load sensor for HVAC and Auto Headlights Avoid 68230115AB which is HVAC only.

Headlight Switch = 68542459AA is the one with the auto setting, Avoid 68542460AA it is the one without you already have.

I don't think Auto-High Beams is part of this, but I may be wrong. I have the automatic headlights, but I don't think I have Auto-High Beams.
