I have been having a whining and vibrating noise coming out of my 2021 Jeep Gladiator rear end for over a year now. I have brought it to the dealership i believe 5 times for this issue and they have replaced fluid in the rear end, they have replaced the rear axle, and nothing has fixed it and it doesn't seem like they really knew. Well this time they are telling me it is the rear differential that needs to be replaced but they are also telling me they cannot order a complete rear differential from Jeep. They have to order all the parts and then rebuild it at the dealership on the truck. Does this sound correct? Has anyone else had a similar issue or had an issue with a rear differential? Thanks!

yes, i was told the same thing about my axle position sensor always telling me it's trying to lock. If replacing teh sensor didn't fix teh issue or it comes back they have to replace teh entire axle, it comes with teh diff parts. Get this i was also told it doesn't come with the axle shafts LOL

Ok thanks - I can never tell now if they are telling me the truck or not about what is going on. I did open a case with Jeep Cares today and should be assigned a Case Manager soon so we will see if that helps.

my jeep cares case helped a little. My dealership does not answer phone calls. EVER!! they don't reply to voicemails or emails. The entire process is a joke but it is what it is. took me over a year to get my shocks replaced. We are here for moral support.!!

If you're asking if they can replace the entire differential housing and internals as one piece, then the answer is definitely NO.

The differential is full of replaceable parts, and it's faster and easier to do it as such.

Ok thanks - i am glad they were telling me the truth then it seems. They were saying they are going to have to wait for the multiple pieces to come to build it and it may take time from the factory for the parts to be made and come in.

For my truck, a half year or so ago, they got an entire new axle and bolted it up. The original had a drain plug and the new does not, so I know they did the entire thing. Not sure if that included the brakes though.
