So I sold one toy for another and bought a used 21 Gladiator Sport w/ 27K miles. During the test drive I heard nothing because the radio was on and we never took any sharp turns. Deal closed after hours and I noticed a funny sound that I thought was coming out of the front end but have been told by the dealer that it “needs to have the rear differential serviced” ($199 NO). Other small details that I am upset about but I digress.
I have owned Jeeps before and have never heard the noise coming from the rear. My worry is that the vehicle has a tow package and the rear is worn. Anyone have any experience with grinding in the rear differential?
Took 2 weeks for the service appt. and I have 30 days to return it. My mind has gone to the dark side on this. Where was the "1xx point inspection" that’s supposed to catch these things?
