My Overland (ordered 5/19, delivered 7/19), it was part of the cold weather package.

Love it for when temps drop below 40 (Maybe colder like 35?) degrees, and I have to go out. I remote start and, it also turns on the heated steering wheel, the front and rear defrost, and the butt toaster (driver's side only). So, after about 5 minutes, I get into a warm vehicle.

So, if you are trying to add one to an older JT (I think they stopped making it an option in '22 or '23?) make sure you can program the little extras like starting heated seats, etc. too, if you have them.

I see this is an older thread, I’m new here. I just did this on my gladiator today. I had the dealer check my vin and it was listed as an option but wasn’t enabled by the sales code. I have a 2021 diesel overland with the 8.1” uconnect radio. I do not have proximity doors. I used JScan and via the RF hub in adaptations enabled the remote start. I got a remote start key off eBay. I went to the dealer to get the pin so I could program the FOB, but the guy at the parts counter paired the FOB for free. Remote start now works. Hope this helps and answers some of the questions I saw
hello I was able to confirm the same exact thing on my wife’s 2021 JLUD with the rf hub. So all I would need To buy is a new key fob with remote start on it? If so shoot I ordered another key not to long ago cause she lost one. Then take it to pair the fob with my vehicle from dealer?

I have been fighting FCA on this, its like they don't want to listen to what I am telling him, here is what I have found so far.

Hub Variants:
JT RF Hub or FCC ID M3N - 11207900 is registered under a single family of RF Receivers known as RF Hub JL, there are 6 Variants, 2 for JT with automatic transmission and 2 for JL with automatic transmission. 1 for JT with manual transmission and 1 for JL with manual transmission. All 6 Variants of the RF Hub JL per their filing use the same PCB with 2 Variants using external antennas for automatic transmission. 2 with internal antennas for automatic transmission, and 2 with internal antennas for manual transmission.

FCC Filing:
Per FCC filing the internal vs external antenna does not change the way the unit handles RF Signals or frequencies only digital software options related to transmission type. The RF HUB JL Base station operates on 433.92Mghz Receiving and Transmits on 1.25Khz regardless of Internal vs External Antenna configuration per its FCC filing

The Question FCA wont answer:
Since these are all JL Hubs this raises the question why can remote start be added to JL Hubs without external Antenna on Wrangler but not Gladiator, they are the same PCB and same overall software configuration. Even if we argue that it requires an external antenna the remote start command is sent via RKE (Remote Keyless Entry) per Device Specification Regarding RF Hub & KIN interaction documentation with the FCC. The only thing that "could" be stopping it from passing the remote start command to the CAN BUS is software coding in and exclusive to JT RF HUB w/o external antenna (Part Number 68583984AB) (2024 - 2025 version). However recent query against the RF Hub from the BCM showed that the Hub (Part Number 6853984AB RF Hub w/o Remote Start) Reported Software Version 6853986AB or in simple terms the software image for RF Hub (Part Number 68583986AB RF Hub With Remote Start) this lines up with the JL experience of adding FOBs and Sales Code if no software pitfalls are found.

Change to JL Remote Start Kits:
Prior to 2020 the kits for JT included both the External Antenna and (JT RF Hub EAV) (External Antenna Variant) and were discontinued at the same time as JL Kits that included (JL RF Hub EAV) This only makes sense if Remote Start Kits that include the replacement hub hardware were cancelled by FCA for both JT and JL for the same reason or intent to update. The previous process of replacing the RF Hub is a proven method of adding remote start if EVA is required to JTs prior the the 2020 change for JLs.

Conclusion:
So what does all of this mean? it means that every JL RF Hub (all 6 Variants) are the same part and pin out with slightly different outer housings and slightly different software so there is 0 physical and technical reasons that a replacement JT RF Hub w/ external antenna (Part Number 68583986AB) along with External Antenna (68640693AA) can not be installed and programmed by a dealer and remote start enabled in the ECU via XBM Sales Code, The only reason that this can't be done is because the Sales Code is locked as incompatible VIN which means that they are unable to activate the XBM Sales code for the VIN in dealerCONNECT even after correct hardware is installed.

Possible Reason:
In 2020 JL Remote Start Kits were reworked, and it makes sense that this change impacted both JT and JL remote start kits since they are the same PCB, however the change over was completed for JLs but was not completed for JTs, It is also highly likely, however at this time not confirmed, that this change was also completed for JTs. Speculated by FCC Filings indicating they are the same PCB and Software Manufactured by Continental matching remote start ready RF Hubs, it is likely that it was not updated in the FCA database correctly leading to this limbo state.

I can't speak for the person in charge of this at FCA and since it is still offered for JL with the updated kit, it appears that someone has mistakenly marked gladiator as not compatible for the JL Remote Start Kit and also failed to rollback to the Previous RF Hub install method, leaving the Gladiator stuck in limbo for the last 5 years.

the point is that they all already have it, FCA just locked it behind a sales code they will unlock for JL but not JT. Also the JT RF Hub EAV if required is like 160 total and available for after sale purchase, takes removing 1 panel and 3 bolts to replace, programming not included.

If you really think about it FCA is ok with RKE being used to feed signals to a 3rd party controller plugged into CAN Bus (start-x) , and not using RKE to send the signal to BCM to use the built in remote start code with actual safeties? (for clarification RKE is used for both unlock / lock / and remote start FOBIK key presses on all JL/JT with RKE regardless of RF Hub variant)

I'll just chuck this out there...

After reading this thread and others, I decided to try it myself.

My 22 overland has push button and prox , sooo....I enabled remote start in alfaobd, and bought a key from the dealer and they cut it.

Got pin from alfaobd and it wasn't valid, got pin from dealer and still could not program...alfaobd wants 5 digits....Jscan wouldn't program it either.

I took the new key to back dealer they programmed it, for a fee, and now i have remote start.

W00t!

4 button key Fob + enabled in ECU,

does require power locks / RKE (lock and unlock buttons on fob) only cause the system does a check to see if they are locked otherwise remote start cancels. But other than that just a 4 button (remote start) fob and enabled in the ECU.

Can this be done is jscan ? Or has to be dealer ?
