So my question now is...What is the down side of keeping that cable plugged in? Maybe a Tazer is a good option for this

Good work! So this is 2 for 2 now (me and you) that have confirmed that the SGW bypass does indeed seem to be required to get the gauges to work. Plus the infotainment.com website basically saying the same thing.

I'm guessing you have the 6-speed? I have a transmission temp gauge too but that wouldn't be there obviously if you haves a manual.

Again, thanks for confirming this!
Correct, manual...

If you have that bigger dangly cable, only downside I guess is tying it up out of the way. I have the ECRI thing which is pretty small so I can easily just velcro tie it up under there and not worry about it. I also wrote to ECRI and they said there's no problem leaving it in place permanently, just take it out for dealer service.

A Tazer is slightly bigger than my ECRI device and also functions as a SGW bypass. I think if we were to go to a Tazer we'd want to set everything back to stock with JSCAN first, since the Tazer copies off your config and saves it first when you "marry" it to your Jeep.

But if I have to leave the Tazer plugged in anyway I will just leave my ECRI there. I don't need anything else other than what JSCAN gives me TBH.

Ya I guess I need to do some homework on all features of the Tazer, decide from there...

Did you link to the ECRI you are using?

And can anyone tell me what version is the latest?

Sorry, version for ORP...Mine is .19 blah blah blah.
My ORP version is v.200820.0.

I also flashed the firmware on the radio up to 39.6, the latest version that is out for USB installation anyway.

Not to derail but were those separate uploads? I put in the VIN for the radio and was told no updates...Where are you getting them?

No it's all part of the 39.6 firmware. That's the problem with upgrading to the 8.4, UConnect/Jeep don't have an 8.4 radio associated with your VIN and therefore you can't get firmware updates from official channels.

I have the VIN the radio came from...That should work, I think

I have yet to see the Uconnect website offer a downloadable for updating the Gladiator 8.4 radio regardless of what VIN you put in even if you have the donor vehicle VIN. All seems to be dealer only or if you order a NAV map update, they will include a USB to get you to the latest radio software/firmware rev for you nav update.

JSCAN screen is a bit different but basically the same PID to enable. Radio has to do a deep sleep reboot before it shows the ORP.

That's a log dump I did............ but yeah, the screen itself would be different looking.
I plan on doing another full dump if I can figure it all out, of every module or system on my 2020 before I take it to the dealer to get the new one.
There are some things I want to compare.

The Tazer has a lot of "live" features if you're looking for those things. I mainly just wanted to set my TPMS lower, prepare for larger tires in the future, and enable ORP so I went with JSCAN for now. Just didn't realize at the time that ORP won't work without a SGW bypass in place apparently.

I am not convinced that the Tazer can enable ORP either without leaving it in place acting as a SGW bypass.
