Everybody, let's micro manage.. We run RIPP on the 21 (30Kmiles) and might empty it every other oil change (5-6K) and on the 13 JKU with 120K miles check and if need empty. BTW the JKU does use some oil, about 1 qt at 3K (NPF). RIPP has a dipstick so easy to check.

Not that I want or need or have any inclination, but if I was doing it for someone else, I'd want something really simple to monitor for them

No

Typically you empty the Catch Can when you change the oil.
