I know there's 2-stage oil pressure but on my Mojave, (low) below 3,000 rpm read 31 pounds and above 3,000 rpm (high) read 81 pounds. Is the high too much pressure for my Mojave? I am using 0W-20 oil and its been like that since came out of factory. Now has about 25k miles on it. I change my oil 4x since factory.

Lots of moving parts inside modern engines. I was remarking to a friend the other day that your garden variety engine today is a complex as a Formula One engine thirty years ago. DOHC designs are the norm, electronically controlled variable valve timing, 4 valve heads, alloy block & heads, cross bolted mains, etc. All that complexity has to be kept lubricated, esp at high rpms. 81 PSI seems high until you consider what's out front doiung the work.

Wow, I am glad I stumbled across this. I really thought I was losing it or something was very wrong. I am seeing low to mid 30s and higher 70s and started thinking I had a problem developing.
I guess I need to look into the whole 2 stage thing.. Thanks for asking Rhino!

To give you guys an idea on oil pressures on some other engines. A Nissan 3.7 V6. It will have oil pressure high as 115+ psi. Cold start is 100+ psi, then drops to around 35 psi once warm. High rpms will see 100+ psi.

I'd be more concerned about the oil temperature than that oil pressure. I had a OEM 4.0 90XJ that ran about 70 psi oil pressure when driving. Until a shop owned by a "buddy" talked me into replacing oil pump when I had it in shop to have rear main seal replaced. A few hindsight factors, I should have waited until I got back from being TDY and done the job myself, second
I should have stayed with my instincts and not agreed on it. That cost me a great engine, time and money not to mention the frustration with the whole situation.

Perfectly normal, the cut-over to high oil pressure at 3,000 rpm corresponds to the cam shifting to high lift mode. This is the powertrain shifting calibration from economizing to max performance, so it makes sense.

Here is the oil pressure info per the FSM:
For coolant temperature between 89-100C.
Pressure @ Curb Idle Speed (650 RPM) = 15-34psi
Pressure @ 1000-3000 RPM = 28-35psi
Pressure Above 3500 RPM = 65-80psi
