OK guys I know I'm a new glad owner, but seriously, if I need to open the door on the driver's side and look behind/down/front to make sure I'm not rolling over something surely I should be able to override the transmission lock system. What's your thinking on how to override that system.

Buckle you belt . It thinks the doors are off .
You can then drive with the door open .

Check for the other long drawn out threads on this exact topic. Some have dozens of posts...........

The short answer is buckle the belt behind you - otherwise check for other complaints about auto-park feature.

The reason it exists is because people have died and been seriously injured ..................

Frankly, I use the camera when backing up since it shows everything in your path behind you, even on the ground, as you back up.

While I'm on a roll with you JD101, can we talk about the 7" radio. I was able to use my S22 Ultra with the android auto, to Uconnect to the head unit. But, I wanted to not have the radio come blasting on when I stopped using the Google map. Meaning, when the cell is USB connected to the head unit and it goes into android auto mode and the head unit displays that Google Maps logo, then when the map is done and I go to some other display on that head unit the radio comes blaring in. Anyway to have the radio volume off? or is there a way to have the head unit mute or be directed to a different media like a SD card that's not installed but silent? The chosen device is something other than the radio.

It's called Auto Park. It monitors the seat belt and the weight sensor in the seat. If the door is opened and the seat belt is not buckled, or if you lift up off the seat, it will put the transmission in park.

There’s a hidden compartment right in front of the auto gear shifter. Inside is an orange strap. Get a hold of it and pull to the left until you hear a “click”. It is now out of Park. Try backing up with the door open and seat belt off. What happens??

To put it back in Park, put the shifter in Park, grab the strap and pull to the left again to release it and engage Park.
