I'm really interested in getting a half rack for the bed, but I'm finding it tough to find just the right one. I run with a tri-fold tonneau on all the time and want the ability to quickly add or remove the rack without taking off the tonneau. I'm good with having small brackets coming out and around from under the cover. My ultimate idea is to be able to lift the rack on and off the truck easily (similar to a hardtop hoist) without touching the tonneau cover.
I really like the JRT half-rack (https://www.jcroffroad.com/product/JTBR.html). The aesthetics of it are great and it's just the right functionality for what I want to do. Trouble is the way it mounts to the Jeep means that to get it on or off I'd be removing the tonneau cover each and every time. The brackets don't look to be separable to where I can keep the mount on the sides but still take off the rack.
Does anyone have suggestions or experience on ways to make this idea come to life? For reference, I have a simple Tyger tri-fold on, here's a photo of how it rests on the sides. Like I said, I'm good with sandwiching a bracket in between the bed and the cover so long as it isn't a nuisance with the rack off.
