6020 lbs with me and a full tank...

Guess I was living dangerously a few weeks ago with the family, full ski gear, groceries and cloths for the weekend.

Found a helluva deal on an OP4, picking it up Monday. Figured better to be safe than sorry with the weight.

First, no JEEP doesn't say a Rubicon can handle a 7000 pound trailer. Nice try at discounting the entire section discussing weight and towing. Not to mention the disclaimer right below the number you're trying to use.

I guarantee you, your wife, your kids, and all your camping gear in the bed are not 150 pounds or less. You've already listed your mods, that makes it lower you can tow, not higher because you have more HP which doesn't mean squat in the equation. It's cooling and braking.

Now, the RIGHT way to see what you can tow. Load up EVERYTHING you haul camping in the bed of the truck. Fill the fuel tank. Load up yourself, the wife, and the kids and go weigh the truck in that condition only. Now take 10% of trailer weight (tongue weight) and add that to what the truck weighs. Now open the driver door and look at the magic number there and tell everyone honestly how much you're over that number.
You’re incorrect regarding the rubicon, with factory towing and the automatic transmission and 3.6. It’s rated for 7k of towing. It’s 4,500 with 6 speed manual.
But you’re correct that a 6k trailer might be too much when all else is considered. I have a 21 auto rubicon and tow about 3k with 300 tongue weight and it’s easy on flats, but is the limit on 7% up grades in the mountains. I’m also running 5.13 gears.

That OP4 looks like a fantastic trailer. We are waiting for our Turtleback to arrive this month. I think you will like the model you chose much better if you do go off road. I also wanted something a little more comfortable for my wife when it comes to a bathroom. She is a trooper when it comes to everything else and I want to get in the backcountry so we got a Wrappon.

That's cool unit. Mine is the same. Shes good for a day or two, but anything longer than that starts to get annoyed.
The OP4 comes with a portable head, so we will see how that goes?! The instant hotwater and shower tent is fine as far as that's concerned.

Exactly. With all the toys we buy, it is certainly worth the investment into a toilet and a shower to keep them happy!

I am in the same position. Have 37s and 3.5 lift with 5.13 gearing. I was looking at OP15 and some others in that range but after reading many different posts on the forum, I am going with something that fully loaded would be around 5K Lbs. I wanted something rugged so I can potentially take it mild off-roading and came across the NO Boundaries (NoBo 19.8) it seems to check off many boxes for me.
- Dry weight of around 4,000 lbs (loaded to around 5,000 lbs)
- Sleeps at least 5
- Slide out for better interior space
- Few different package to extend off-grid camping
- Independent Curt suspension

Overall a really nice setup compared to others in the same weight class. Slightly more expensive but with included packages, I think it's worth it.

so how is the OP4 ??
Love it. Versatile, easy to set up, and travel with. Haven’t gotten to use it as much as we’d like due to kids and sports, but it’s handy as heck when we do!

Sure, just get a smaller spot.
