Because Maker's Mark and diet coke sometimes make violent lovers.

Seriously, tho, with any incarnation of the 3.6 or 2.0, 4.88 when combined with 37 or 38", reliably restores "factory" drivability. Eco and big fat hemi, 4.56 is more than sat with the rig.
Fair enough. Makers is a cruel mistress. Your 4.88 logic apply to 35s on the 3.6L as well?

It's basically up to the owner/driver. In my estimation, given the trend of "35"'s make my rig look small", it isn't much of a stretch to just go with 4.88 gearing on the 3.6 or 2.0, regardless of electrification or not.

Even when boosted, with the Hambugers unit, for example, the 8HP (or derivative) lives comfortably when said tire size is matched as mentioned above.

And, a greater part of my uniform career was spent with Radio, including the civ service. My first CPO was a GySgt, who ran the Sh.t out of us.

That used to be my job. “How far are we running?” - till the running’s done.
“How fast?” -very.

Fair enough. Just ran the math on 75mph and the difference between 4.88 and 4.56 was only 157. Sounds like a fairly negligible margin to just make the jump. Leaves the door wide open for bigger tires (mine do look far too small) that I don’t need for my daily driver.
Follow the science people.

1: can’t imagine anyone is still reading this thread.
b: not sure how the info below is useful for anyone else
iii: I wouldn’t trust it as math was my weakest subject.

Was driving 1:30 each way and got bored on a long stretch of pavement. Found the equation wasn’t matching up to my truck likely due to variables. After 10 samples, it’s +-50 which fits
multiple angles of margin of error. This helps me determine where I’ll sit with larger tires or different gears.

RPM = (MPH x axle ratio x transmission ratio x 360) / tire diameter (listed, not actual. ie if you have 35” tires, use 35 and not 34.x etc)

exhibit A:
65x3.73x1.00x360/35 = 2,494 RPM

oh yeah, something I failed to mention prior....what ever gearing you chose be it 4.56 or 4.88 the VERY first thing I noticed when I picked it up was when I put it in reverse to back out of the parking spot. It is sooooo much better .
